THE ORGANIZATION USES THE PURSUIT OF MUSICAL EXCELLENCE AND ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE TO BRING ABOUT POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE LIVES OF SOUTH BRONX CHILDREN. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES INTENSIVE MUSICAL ENGAGEMENT THROUGHOUT THE PARTICIPANTS' CHILDHOOD, ADOLESCENT AND YOUNG ADULT YEARS.

THE PROGRAM OPERATED YEAR-ROUND, 5 DAYS/WEEK DURING AFTER-SCHOOL HOURS AND 4 WEEKS OVER THE SUMMER. THROUGH VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING, 100 PARTICIPANTS WERE ENGAGED MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK ATTENDING PRIVATE LESSONS, GROUP CLASSES, SMALL ENSEMBLE REHEARSALS AND LATE ENSEMBLE REHEARSALS LED BY QUALIFIED STAFF WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF VOLUNTEER MUSICIANS. ALL PARTICIPANTS PERFORMED IN VIRTUAL PUBLIC EVENTS. ALL ACTIVITIES AND INSTRUMENTS WERE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE. DUE TO PUBLIC SAFETY CHALLENGES CAUSED BY THE PANDEMIC, ALL PROGRAMMING NORMALLY PROVIDED IN-PERSON WAS OFFERED VIRTUALLY.
