APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM- THE ACADEMY IS USING THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (NCCER) CURRICULUM FOR A FOUR YEAR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM. ALL STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE OVER 600 HOURS OF CLASSROOM STUDIES AND 8,000 HOURS OF ON-THE-JOB LEARNING (OJL) IN ORDER TO BECOME A REGISTERED JOURNEY WORKER. CLASSES ARE CONDUCTED IN THE EVENINGS, MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY FROM 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. STUDENTS ATTEND TWO SEMESTERS PER YEAR, WHICH BEGINS IN JANUARY WITH THE SPRING SEMESTER FOR 13 WEEKS. DUE TO THE INDUSTRY NEEDS DURING THE SUMMER, CLASSES ARE NOT HELD. CLASSES RESUME IN SEPTEMBER FOR THE FALL SEMESTER, WHICH ALSO LAST 13 WEEKS. EACH STUDENT WILL BE ACCRUING 160 HOURS OF CLASSROOM LEARNING PER YEAR, AND 2,000 HOURS OF ON-THE-JOB LEARNING. STUDENTS WILL BE LEARNING THE BASIC SHEET METAL AND/ OR PIPEFITTING SKILLS TO BECOME TRAINED JOURNEY WORKERS IN THEIR FIELD OF TRAINING.
