THE PURPOSE OF STOCKTON HISTORICAL MARITIME MUSEUM IS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND PROVIDE, MAINTAIN AND MANAGE A MARITIME MUSEUM DEDICATED TO THE CULTURAL HERITAGE AND HISTORICAL RECOGNITION OF THE DOWNTOWN WATERFRONT OF STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA.

THE MAIN PROGRAM OF THE STOCKTON HISTORICAL MARITIME MUSEUM, INC., IS THE RESTORATION OF THE USS LUCID, AN AGGRESSIVE-CLASS MINESWEEPER SERVING FOUR TOURS IN THE VIETNAM WAR.SIGNIFICANT RESTORATION ACTIVIY CONTINUES EACH YEAR INCLUDING: SHIP STORES, FORWARD BERTHING, BOSUN LOCKER, ANCHOR WINDLASS, THE ENTIRE SHIP FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM, EXTERIOR SUPER STRUCKTURE AREA, REPLACEMENT OF THE 40MM BOFORS ANTI-AIRCRAFT CANNON, TO NAME A FEW PROJECTS. VOLUNTEER HOURS CONTINUE TO INCREASE, SLOWING ONLY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC PERIOD.IN ADDITION TO RESTORATION PROGRESS AND VOLUNTEER HOURS, THE MUSEUM HAS MENTORED YOUTH IN THE SKILLS AND TRADES USED IN SHIP RESTORATION. SOME OF THESE YOUTH SERVICE PROGRAMS INCLUDE: THE BUILDING FUTURES ACADEMY AND DISCOVERY CHALLENGE ACADEMY CADETS.
