AMPLIFY: AMPLIFY GIRLS IS A COLLECTIVE OF COMMUNITY-DRIVEN ORGANIZATIONS (CDOS) WORKING IN COMMUNITIES IN EASTERN AFRICA TO BUILD FEMALE LEADERS BY SCALING IDEAS AND BEST PRACTICES THROUGH COLLABORATION. AMPLIFY GIRLS EMBODIES AN INNOVATIVE GRASSROOTS MODEL OF SCALE: IT SUPPORTS CDOS TO LEAD AND COLLECTIVELY WORK TOWARDS IMPROVING OUTCOMES FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS - BASED ON THE SOLUTIONS THEY IDENTIFY AS BEST FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES. IN SEPTEMBER 2020, AMPLIFY GIRLS INCORPORATED TO BECOME AN INDEPENDENT NONPROFIT CORPORATION. KOMERA, INC. SERVED AS THEIR FISCAL SPONSOR THROUGHOUT THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021.
EDUCATION: THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS SCHOLARS WITH FULL ROOM, BOARD AND TUITION AT A PUBLIC BOARDING SCHOOL IN RWANDA. DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS, SCHOLARS ATTEND WORKSHOPS WHERE THEY RECEIVE TRAINING ON REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH, CAREER, COUNSELING, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND HOW TO BE LEADERS WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITIES. ONCE STUDENTS FINISH SCHOOL, THEY ATTEND THE POST-SECONDARY TRANSITION PROGRAM (PSTP). THE PSTP TRAINS THEM IN ENGLISH, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY, SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, AND HELPS THEM APPLY TO UNIVERSITIES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SUPPORTS THE UNIVERSITY EDUCATION OF SELECT SCHOLARS.
LEADERSHIP CENTER: KOMERA IS FUNDING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A LEADERSHIP CENTER IN THE RWINKWAVU SECTOR IN RWANDA. THE CENTER WILL PROVIDE PROGRAMMING FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY, WITH A FOCUS ON SUPPORTING WOMEN AND GIRLS. THE CENTER WILL BE A SPACE FOR EDUCATIONAL COURSES, HEALTH AND COUNSELING, AND BUSINESSES DEVELOPMENT FOR THE GREATER COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION ANTICIPATES THE CENTER WILL BENEFIT NEARLY 30,000 PEOPLE LIVING IN THE AREA AFTER IT OPENS IN AUGUST 2022.
