COMMUNITY EVENTS: ABC WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH RESIDENTS, BUSINESSES AND INSTITUIONS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH THREE COMMUNITY ANNUAL EVENTS. SERVE DAY IS THE SPRINGTIME NEIGHBORHOOD COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP SILVER CITY DAY, THE NEIGHBORHOOD PRIDE EVENT AND PARADE ARGENTINE HOLIDAY LIGHTING CEREMONY, WHICH KICKS OFF THE HOLIDAY SEASON FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND PROVIDES HOLIDAY GIFTS TO OVER 350 CHILDREN. THESE EVENTS IMPACT TWO TO FOUR THOUSAND RESIDENTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE
HEALTHY CHALLENGE: WYANDOTTE COUNTY IS RANKED NEAR LAST AS 94TH OUT OF 101 COUNTIES IN KANSAS FOR HEALTH. MANY FACTORS INFLUENCE HEALTH AND POOR AND MINORITY FAMILES, LIKE MANY OF THOSE IN ARGENTINE, ARE ESPECIALLY AT RISK BECAUSE THE COMMUNITY LACKS THE RESOURCES TO ENCOURAGE ACTIVITY AND OFTEN LACK SAFE OUTDOOR SPACE FOR KIDS TO PLAY. THROUGH COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS, ABC AND ITS PARTNERS, HAVE IMPLEMENTED A NUMBER OF WAYS IN WHICH HEALTHY LIFESTYLES FOR ARGENTINE RESIDENTS CAN BE IMPROVED. ABC PROVIDES GROWTH RESOURCES AND ADVOCACY FOR NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS, YOUT PROGRAMMING, RESIDENTS, BUSINESSES AND INSTITUTIONS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR OUR COMMUNITY. ABC DOES THIS BY ATTENDING CRUCIAL GOVERNMENT MEETINGS, PARTICIPATING IN DISCUSSIONS ABOUT LOCAL AND REGIONAL CONCERNS AND COMMUNICATING THIS INFORMATION BACK TO ARGENTINE RESIDENTS.
