COMMUNITY BUILDING - CVPA WORKS TO STRENGTHEN THE ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNITY ACROSS PENNSYLVANIA BY PROMOTING THE EVENTS OF OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, RECRUITING AND DEVELOPING VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR ALLIES, AND COACHING ALLIED ORGANIZATIONS ON BEST PRACTICES FOR ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATIONS.
ADVOCACY - CVPA ADVOCATES FOR LAWS THAT WILL PROTECT THE NATURAL RESOURCES OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA. WE WORK DIRECTLY WITH STATE LAWMAKERS TO INFLUENCE LEGISLATION AND WE ACTIVATE OUR MEMBERS TO PUT GRASSROOTS PRESSURE ON LEGISLATORS TO SUPPORT GOOD LAWS. AS PART OF OUR ADVOCACY PROGRAM, WE PRODUCE A BIANNUAL PENNSYLVANIA ENVIRONMENTAL SCORECARD WHICH TRACKS THE ENVIRONMENTAL VOTING RECORDS OF OUR STATE LEGISLATORS.
EDUCATION - ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES ARE OFTEN POLITICALLY AND SCIENTIFICALLY COMPLEX. WE WORK TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF THESE ISSUES AS WELL AS TO EDUCATE CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE AND ELECTED OFFICIALS ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS AND CHALLENGES FACING OUR STATE. THIS EDUCATION OFTEN TAKES THE FORM OF EMAIL AND SOCIAL MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS, BUT MAY ALSO INVOLVE PAID ADVERTISEMENTS, MAIL PROGRAMS OR PHONE OUTREACH.
