THE MISSION OF OCEAN STUDIES CHARTER SCHOOL IS TO OFFER A QUALITY PUBLIC EDUCATION BASED ON THE BEST PRACTICES IN ACCELERATED LEARNING AND REFLECTING THE DIVERSITY OF THE CHILDREN OF MONROE COUNTY. OCEAN STUDIES CHARTER SCHOOL WILL OFFER A RIGOROUS ACADEMIC PROGRAM, PRODUCING STUDENTS WHO MEET OR EXCEED THE SUNSHINE STATE STANDARDS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS, MATH, SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES. WHILE NURTURING CURIOSITY, CREATIVITY AND IMAGINATION, WE WILL ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO BECOME INDEPENDENT, RESPONSIBLE AND SELF-MOTIVATED LEARNERS. IN THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR, WE COMPLETED THE ADDITION OF OUR NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL. WE ARE NOW ABLE TO PROVIDE A MARINE EDUCATION TO MIDDLE SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN IN THE UPPER KEYS WHICH INCLUDES COMPARING OUR ENVIRONMENT TO THOSE OF OTHER COUNTRIES. OUR MARINE SCIENCE PROGRAM OFFERS INTERNATIONAL TRIPS TO BELIZE, MEXICO, AND CHILE TO CONTINUE EXTEND THE LEARNING AND RESEARCH DONE IN THE CLASSROOMS AND DURING OUR FIELD LABS TO INTERNATIONAL LOCATIONS.
