THE STEMFEST YOUTH CONFERENCE, SUPPORTED BY UNITED WAY OF GREATER ATLANTA, PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR 250 MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO ENGAGE IN HANDS ON WORKSHOPS, LEARN ABOUT A VARIETY OF STEM CAREERS, AND INTERACT WITH STEM PROFESSIONALS. ADDITIONALLY, 180 PARENTS OF THE STUDENT PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED CONCURRENT PARENT WORKSHOPS ON ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET, PARENTING IN THE WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY, AND MAKE IT MAKE CENTS.
THE FOUR WEEK STEM ENRICH SUMMARY ACADEMY, SUPPORTED BY DELTA CREDIT UNION, ENGAGED 50 MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN STATE OF THE ART STEM WORKSHOPS, INCLUDING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, CYBER SECURITY, FINANCIAL LITERACY, FILMMAKING, DRONE AVIATION GRAPHIC DESIGN, MUSIC AND CODING, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, AND MICRO BIT CODING. THE EXPOSURE OF THESE WORKSHOPS TO THE STUDENTS SPARKED A GREATER INTEREST IN STEM, AND INSPIRED THEM TO IDENTIFY THE STEM CAREERS THEY WOULD LIKE TO PURSUE
A SERIES OF COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS WORKSHOPS, SUPPORTED BY UNITED WAY OF GREATER ATLANTA, WERE OFFERED TO 100 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PREPARE THEM FOR SUCCESS ON THEIR EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER PATHWAYS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, AMD THE EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS THAT MOST EMPLOYERS ARE SEEKING. THE WORKSHOPS FOCUSED ON IDENTIFYING CAREERS OF INTEREST TO THE STUDENTS RESEARCHING THE PRIMARY DUTIES THE EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, AND APPRENTICE/INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.
