IN 2023, RU HOSTED RESIDENCIES FOR 59 ARTISTS (41 INTERNATIONAL + 18 NY/US-BASED) AND 10 CURATORS FROM 32 COUNTRIES INCLUDING ALBANIA, AUSTRIA GERMANY, BELGIUM, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, BULGARIA, CHINA, CROATIA, CUBA, CZECH REPUBLIC, FRANCE, FINLAND, GERMANY, HUNGARY, ISRAEL, ITALY, JAPAN, KOSOVO, LITHUANIA, NICARAGUA, NORTH MACEDONIA, MONTENEGRO, PORTUGAL, SLOVENIA, SLOVAKIA, SERBIA, SPAIN, SWITZERLAND, TAIWAN, TURKEY, UNITED KINGDOM, AND THE UNITED STATES.SUPPORTING LOCAL ARTISTS FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE FIVE BOROUGHS IS ALSO A PRIORITY FOR RU. THE NYC ARTISTS HAD A CULMINATING EXHIBITION AT PS122 GALLERY AND THE VOM ARTISTS HAD WORKSHOPS WITH THE ARTMOBILE VAN IN COLLABORATION WITH THE BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY AND A CULMINATING EXHIBITION AT RU/KODA HOUSE ON GOVERNORS ISLAND.IN 2023 RU ORGANIZED 600 STUDIO VISITS/MEETINGS FOR CRITICAL FEEDBACK BETWEEN RESIDENT ARTISTS AND THE BROADER ARTS PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY IN NYC. THIS IS A REMUNERATED SERVICE. WE HIRED 4 GUEST CURATORS TO ASSIST THE RU TEAM AND PROVIDE AN ADDED LEVEL OF CUSTOMIZED SUPPORT FOR STUDIO VISITS AND PROGRAMMING.IN 2023 WE ORGANIZED 59 PUBLIC PROGRAMS (23 EXHIBITIONS, 21 TALKS/PRESENTATIONS, 7 PERFORMANCES, 8 WORKSHOPS) AT OUR HEADQUARTERS IN CARROLL GARDENS AND RU/KODA HOUSE AT GOVERNORS ISLAND, AND PARTNERING VENUES INCLUDING PS122 GALLERY, SAPAR CONTEMPORARY GALLERY IN TRIBECA, TROTTER & SHOLER GALLERY IN LES, KI SMITH GALLERY AND CHASHAMA MIDTOWN.IN 2023 RU WAS PROUD TO CONTINUE INVOLVEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY MURAL PROJECT LED BY THE ARTS DEPARTMENT AT NYC HEALTH + HOSPITALS. RU MANAGED THE OPEN CALL TO SELECT 10 LOCAL ARTISTS OUT OF 145 APPLICATIONS WHO WERE COMMISSIONED TO CREATE 10 MURALS FOR HOSPITALS THROUGHOUT THE FIVE BOROUGHS. RU COMMUNITY BUILDING ACTIVITIES FOR THE RESIDENTS INCLUDE 24 FIELD TRIPS AND 12 WELCOME GATHERINGS IN 2023. THEY VISITED THE CENTER FOR THE HUMANITIES, JAMES GALLERY, INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR PHOTOGRAPHY, SWISS INSTITUTE, ANOTHER SPACE, WESTBETH STUDIOS, THE CLEMENTE, ELIZABETH FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS, A.I.R.
