EDUCATION AND RESEARCH - CLI CONTINUED ACTIVITIES AS THE PREEMINENT ORGANIZATION FOR SCIENCE-BASED PRO-LIFE INFORMATION AND RESEARCH. DEVELOPING THE SCIENCE AND STATISTICS FOR LIFE, CLI GREW ITS STAFF AND EXPANDED THE NUMBER OF EXPERTS IN THE ASSOCIATE SCHOLAR PROGRAM. IN 2021, CLI ADDED MULTIPLE SCHOLARS WITH EXPERTISE SCIENCE AND MEDICINE TO INCREASE OUR ABILITY TO EDUCATE ON SCIENCE AND STATISTICS FOR LIFE. CLI ENGAGED HEAVILY IN EDUCATION ON FETAL DEVELOPMENT, SPECIFICALLY THROUGH 15-WEEKS GESTATION, FETAL PAIN, LEGAL DEFICIENCIES OF ROE, CHEMICAL ABORTION, AND CONTINUED PUBLICATION OF PEER-REVIEWED STUDIES BASED ON MEDICAID CLAIMS DATA.(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)IN 2021, THE DOBBS LATE-TERM ABORTION CASE WAS BEFORE THE SUPREME COURT AND SIGNIFICANT RESOURCES AND EFFORT FROM CLI WAS DEVOTED TO ACCURATELY EDUCATING THE PUBLIC, POLICY-MAKERS, AND ALLIES ON THE ISSUE BEFORE THE COURT. CLI SUBMITTED THE PREEMINENT BRIEF ON FETAL PAIN, AUTHORED WITH AN ASSOCIATE SCHOLAR, AS AN AMICUS CURIAE BRIEF IN THE CASE.CLI ALSO UNVEILED A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND WEBSITE, THE MOST ACCURATE, SCIENTIFIC, AND UP-TO-DATE PRESENTATION OF HUMAN LIFE IN THE WOMB.TESTIMONY AND EDUCATION EFFORTS ADDITIONALLY COVERED ISSUES SUCH AS BORN-ALIVE ABORTION SURVIVORS, DISMEMBERMENT ABORTIONS, PREGNANCY CENTERS, TAXPAYER FUNDING OF ABORTION, ABORTION REPORTING, AND PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH IMPACTS OF ABORTION. IN ADDITION TO TESTIFYING, CLI PRODUCED ARTICLES IN MEDICAL JOURNALS, NEWS PUBLICATIONS, AND ONLINE TO EDUCATE POLICYMAKERS, MEDIA REPORTERS, THINK TANKS, AND THE PUBLIC. CLI STAFF AND ASSOCIATE SCHOLARS ALSO RESPONDED TO MEDIA INQUIRIES ABOUT THE LATEST NEWS AFFECTING PRO-LIFE POLICIES, INCLUDING THE SUPREME COURT CASE ON LATE-TERM ABORTIONS, AND PROVIDED EXPERT INTERVIEWS IN THE FIELDS OF SCIENCE AND LAW FOR RADIO AND TELEVISION, UTILIZING ALL AVENUES OF MEDIA TO DISSEMINATE THE SCIENCE AND STATISTICS FOR LIFE. TOPICS COVERED INCLUDED MATERNAL MORTALITY, FETAL PAIN, CHEMICAL ABORTION, ETHICAL RESEARCH, STEM CELLS, AND FETAL TISSUE, IN ADDITION TO NEWS OF THE DAY. IN 2021, CLI STAFF AND SCHOLARS WERE CITED OR INTERVIEWED IN OVER 500 HUNDRED ARTICLES AND PUBLISHED DOZENS OF OPINION EDITORIALS. CLI EXPERTS ALSO PUBLISHED GROUNDBREAKING, PEER-REVIEWED STUDIES UTILIZING DATA FROM THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES (CMS) DEVELOPING A SERIES OF EMPIRICAL STUDIES ON THE UTILIZATION OF ABORTION BY MEDICAID PATIENTS, AND THE RESULTING IMPACTS ON THE STUDY POPULATION. FURTHERING SUPPORT OF WOMEN AND FAMILIES, CLI CONTINUED PROVIDING INFORMATION ON THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY PREGNANCY CENTERS ACROSS THE NATION, AND SUPPORTED WEBSITES PROVIDING LIFE-AFFIRMING INFORMATION ON RELEVANT TOPICS SUCH AS ADULT STEM CELL RESEARCH, HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS, PRENATAL DIAGNOSIS RESOURCES, STATE ABORTION STATISTICS AND PREGNANCY CENTER SUPPORT. CLI PROACTIVELY ENGAGED WITH ALLIES IN THE PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT TO COLLABORATE ON INITIATIVES AND PROJECTS TO AMPLIFY THE LIFE-AFFIRMING WORK IN THE SPACE OF SCIENCE AND STATISTICS AT THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEVEL ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
HER PLAN IS A PROJECT TO SUPPORT AND GROW THE PRO-LIFE SAFETY NET BY FACILITATING COLLABORATION BETWEEN ASSISTANCE PROVIDERS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES TO EMPOWER WOMEN AND FAMILIES THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL, SOCIAL, AND MATERIAL SUPPORT.IN 2020, HER PLAN WAS LAUNCHED WITH PILOT PROGRAMS IN GEORGIA AND NORTHERN VIRGINIA. THE PLAN TEAM DESIGNED AND BEGAN POPULATING A DIRECTORY OF ASSISTANCE PROVIDERS ACROSS SEVEN CATEGORIES OF CARE. THESE CATEGORIES ARE: MENTORSHIP; HEALTH AND WELL-BEING; FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, WORK OR EDUCATION; MATERIAL OR LEGAL SUPPORT; RECOVERY AND MENTAL HEALTH; PRENATAL DIAGNOSIS; AND CARE FOR CHILDREN. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)IN 2021, HER PLAN ALSO DEVELOPED A UNIQUE ONLINE PLATFORM TO HOST A DIRECTORY OF PROVIDERS READY TO SERVE WOMEN AND FAMILIES. HER PLAN STAFF BEGAN DETAILED RESEARCH INTO WAYS COMMUNITIES CAN SUPPORT PREGNANT WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES.
