COUNSELING CENTER - RANCH HANDS RESCUE SPECIALIZES IN TREATING MORE COMPLEX TRAUMA CASES, SUCH AS VICTIMS OF SEVERE AND REPETITIVE ABUSE AND PEOPLE NOT MAKING PROGRESS IN THEIR CURRENT TREATMENT PROGRAMS. THE ORGANIZATION HEALS CRITICAL CARE ANIMALS, THEN GIVES THEM A PURPOSE IN RHR'S COUNSELING PROGRAM AS THEY PARTICIPATE IN EAAC ALONGSIDE SPECIFICALLY SELECTED LICENSED PROFESSIONALS. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR DETAILS ON THE THREAPEUTIC PROGRAMS PROVIDED AND THEIR SUCCESSES FOR THE YEAR.THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMS INCLUDE:EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION & REPROCESSING ENABLES EMOTIONALLY DISTRESSED PEOPLE TO RECOVER FROM THE SYMPTOMS OF THEIR TRAUMA MUCH MORE QUICKLY THAN PREVIOUS PSYCHOTERAPIES AVAILABLE.EQUINE AND ANIMAL ASSISTED COUNSELING IS A PSYCHOTHERAPY THAT HELPS EMOTIONALLY HURTING INDIVIDUALS BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH A HORSE OR OTHER ANIMAL TO BRING ABOUT TRANSFORMATION AND HEALING.THE COUNSELING PROGRAM PROVIDED 3,352 TRAUMA INFORMED COUNSELING SESSIONS, 2,050 OF WHICH WERE FOR 113 CHILDREN, OF WHICH 91 WERE DEEMED HIGH RISK. HIGH RISK YOUTH ARE THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF SEXUAL, PHYSICAL, AND/OR EMOTIONAL ABUSE RESULTING IN COMPLEX OR DEVELOPMENTAL TRAUMA THAT IS OFTEN RESISTANT TO TRADITIONAL FORMS OF MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY. APPROXIMATELY 80% OF PROVIDED SESSIONS WERE FREE OR HEAVILY SUBSIDIZED TO ENSURE CLIENTS FROM LOW INCOME OR INDIGENT FAMILIES WERE ABLE TO ACCESS THE SERVICES THEY NEED. FOR SUCH CLIENTS, AN AVERAGE OF 90% EXPERIENCED A CLINICALLY SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN TRAUMA SYMPTOM SEVERITY.CLINICALLY SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION OF TRAUMA SYMPTOM SEVERITY FOR ~90% OUR CLIENTS LOOKS LIKE:- YEARS OF DAILY SELF-MUTILATION TO NO CUTTING, BURNING, OR HEAD BANGING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS- YEARS OF SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AND SUICIDE ATTEMPTS TO NO SUICIDE ATTEMPTS AND THE ELIMINATION OF SUICIDAL THOUGHTS FOR MULTIPLE MONTHS- DAILY SUBSTANCE ABUSE TO THE ELIMINATION OF ILLICIT SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND PROPER USE OF PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS- DAILY ANGER OUTBURSTS, SOME INCLUDING PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AGAINST OTHERS, TO ONE OUTBURST PER MONTH THAT NO LONGER INCLUDES PHYSICAL VIOLENCE- SELF-SABOTAGE AND/OR TOTAL REJECTION OF ALL RELATIONSHIPS TO THE REFORMING OF KEY CONNECTIONS AMONG FAMILY MEMBERS, TEACHERS, AND PEERS- DEBILITATING ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION THAT INTERFERED WITH DAILY FUNCTIONING TO HEALTHY SELF-CARE THAT INCLUDES PROPER HYGIENE, A REGULAR SLEEP SCHEDULE, PORTION-CONTROLLED EATING, CONSISTENT EXERCISE, AND ENGAGEMENT WITH SCHOOL/WORKRHR EXPANDED THE COUNSELING PROGRAM BY HIRING A LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST, A PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER, AND TWO NEW TRAUMA THERAPISTS, AS WELL AS ADDING TRUST BASED RELATIONAL INTERVENTION TO THE CATALOGUE OF STAFF TRAINING.RHR MAINTAINED A LIST OF OVER 25 COMMUNITY PARTNERS ACROSS DFW METROPLEX WHO REFER CLIENTS TO US WHEN THEY ARE NOT MAKING PROGRESS IN OTHER PROGRAMS. INCLUDING A SIGNED AGREEMENT WITH THE VETERAN'S DIVERSION COURT AND A NEW RESIDENTIAL CENTER FOR FEMALE YOUTH WHO ARE STRUGGLING WITH DUAL DIAGNOSIS.
SAFE HOUSE - BOB'S HOUSE OF HOPE IS THE FIRST NON-PROFIT SAFE HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY FOR MALE SURVIVORS OF COMMERCIAL SEXUAL EXPLOITATION, ALSO KNOWN AS SEX TRAFFICKING. THE ORGANIZATION SERVES YOUNG MEN AGES 18+, AND IS THE ONLY RESIDENTIAL FACILITY TO INCLUDE RANCH HANDS RESCUE'S INNOVATIVE EQUINE AND ANIMAL ASSISTED COUNSELING ("EAAC") INTERVENTION.SEE SCHEDULE O FOR MORE DETAILS ON THE SAFE HOUSE AND RHR'S FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING.BOB'S HOUSE OF HOPE OPENED ON JUNE 1ST, 2021. IT HAS REMAINED FULL, WITH A WAITLIST, DUE TO THE HIGH DEMAND FOR SERVICES. IT HAS SERVED APPROXIMATELY 50 MALE-IDENTIFYING SURVIVORS OF SEX TRAFFICKING FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY THROUGH BOTH IN HOUSE AND SURVIVOR ADVOCACY SERVICES. WE REMAINED DEBT FREE DESPITE THE ADDITION OF THE SAFE HOUSE PROGRAM WHICH HAS 24/7 CARE/STAFFING.RHR WAS AWARDED AN HISTORIC ALLOCATION FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS TO LEAD THE FIGHT AGAINST THE TRAFFICKING OF BOYS AND YOUNG MEN. THIS ALLOWED RHR TO BEGIN EXPANSION PLANS ONTO A NEW 40-ACRE PROPERTY THAT WILL SERVE 30-35 MALE-IDENTIFYING SURVIVORS OF SEX TRAFFICKING.. RHR ALSO ENTERED INTO A PARTNERSHIP WITH CLEAR CHANNEL, LAMAR, AND OTHERS FOR A STATEWIDE AND NATIONAL BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN THAT WILL TAKE EFFECT THROUGHOUT 2022.REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ORGANIZATION WERE INVITED TO JOIN THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S TASK FORCE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR'S HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE FOR THE STATE OF TEXAS, AS WELL AS THE I-20 CORRIDOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE. FROM THESE ENGAGEMENTS, RHR WAS INVITED TO CREATE/MODIFY NATIONAL EDUCATION INITIATIVES TO INCLUDE DETAILS ON THE TRAFFICKING OF BOYS AND YOUNG MEN. RHR WAS ALSO INVITED TO SPEAK AT CONFERENCES, COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND WEBINARS RESULTING IN COMMUNITY TOUCH POINTS IN EXCESS OF 1,000.
ANIMAL SANCTUARY - RHR RESCUES, REHABILITATES, AND PROVIDES SANCTUARY FOR THE WORST-OF-THE-WORST FARM ANIMAL ABUSE AND NEGLECT CASES. THE ANIMALS THAT WILL LIVE OUT THEIR LIVES AT THE RHR SANCTUARY ARE INCORPORATED INTO THE EAAC PROGRAM, AND ARE GIVEN LOVE AND PURPOSE. THE ORGANIZATION'S ANIMALS THAT CANNOT BE ADOPTED DUE TO SPECIAL CARE NEEDS LIVE OUT THEIR LIVES IN A PEACEFUL AND HAPPY ENVIRONMENT. RHR PROVIDES A SANCTUARY FOR APPROXIMATELY 50 SPECIAL NEEDS FARM ANIMALS.
