THE MISSION OF THE PENEDO CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION IS TO EDUCATE GIRLS TO BECOME WOMEN OF KNOWLEDGE, WOMEN OF SERVICE AND WOMEN OF FAITH. THE ORGANIZATION WILL DO THIS BY IDENTIFYING AT-RISK MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS AND GUIDING THEM THROUGH A MENTORING SEQUENCE THAT PROVIDES THEM WITH SUSTAINED TUTORING, RESOURCES AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO A SELECTED COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PCO PROVIDES ACADEMIC, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND MENTORING SUPPORT TO AT-RISK GIRLS IN CHICAGO'S EDGEWATER COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION CURRENTLY SERVICES 8 YOUNG WOMEN AFTER SCHOOL MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY AND SATURDAYS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. SUMMER SESSIONS ARE EXTENDED TO PARTICIPANTS FOR A SIX-WEEK PERIOD FOCUSING ON TRANSITIONING TO UPPER GRADES, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND POSITIVE DECISION MAKING.
