OUR MISSION IS TO MOBILIZE BLACK PEOPLE ACROSS THE AFRICAN DIASPORA TO HEAL FROM THE TRAUMA CAUSED BY CENTURIES OF ANTI BLACK RACISM, TO FREE OURSELVES OF TOXIC STEREOTYPES, AND TO RECLAIM OUR DIGNITY AND HUMANITY AS PEOPLE OF AFRICAN ANCESTRY.

THE "VIRTUAL EMOTIONAL EMANCIPATION (EE) CIRCLE 101 INTENSIVE EXPERIENCE", PILOTED BY CHN IN FY21 AS THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF VIRTUAL CHN CIRCLES FOCUSED ON HELPING PARTICIPANTS HEAL FROM THE MULTI-GENERATIONAL TRAUMA CAUSED BY THE LIE OF WHITE SUPERIORITY AND BLACK INFERIORITY, WAS OFFERED IN FY22 ON A QUARTERLY BASIS. THIS FOUNDATIONAL EE CIRCLE EXPERIENCE LAUNCHES PARTICIPANTS ON A JOURNEY TOWARD COMPLETE FREEDOM FROM THE LIE. IN FY22, CHN OFFERED FOUR EEC 101 INTENSIVES, SERVING A TOTAL OF 121 PARTICIPANTS, INCREASING THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS SERVED PER CIRCLE TO 30 FROM 20 IN FY21. PARTICIPANTS EMERGED WITH PERSONAL EMOTIONAL EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATIONS AND CONCRETE ACTION PLANS FOR FREEING THEMSELVES FROM THE LIE. SURVEY RESULTS SHOW THAT PARTICIPANTS EMERGED WITH A SENSE THAT THEIR MIS-EDUCATION ABOUT HISTORY HAS BEEN CORRECTED, A DEEPENED UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPACT OF THE LIE ON THEIR LIVES, INCREASED FEELINGS OF SELF-EMPOWERMENT, AND A COMMITMENT TO CONTINUING ON THE JOURNEY TOWARD EMOTIONAL EMANCIPATION. IN FY22, CHN CREATED FAWOHODIE, AN ONLINE SPACE IN WHICH PARTICIPANTS CAN CONTINUE TO WORK ON IMPLEMENTING THEIR ACTION PLANS.
THE "VIRTUAL EMOTIONAL EMANCIPATION CIRCLE 101 FACILITATOR TRAINING" -IN FY22, CHN WORKED WITH ITS COLLEAGUES AT THE ASSOCIATION OF BLACK PSYCHOLOGISTS TO DEVELOP A VIRTUAL TRAINING MODULE FOR THE EE CIRCLE 101 INTENSIVE. THIS TRAINING IS DESIGNED TO EQUIP LOCAL LEADERS TO SERVE AS FACILITATORS FOR THE EE CIRCLE 101-TO MOBILIZE OTHERS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES TO JOIN THEM ON THE JOURNEY TOWARD COMPLETE FREEDOM FROM THE LIE. TO QUALIFY TO BE TRAINED AS A FACILITATOR, LOCAL LEADERS HAD TO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE EE CIRCLE 101 INTENSIVE EXPERIENCE OR HAVE BEEN TRAINED PREVIOUSLY AS A FACILITATOR WITHIN THE LAST 2 YEARS, AND MEET CERTAIN OTHER RELEVANT REQUIREMENTS. NEARLY 90 LOCAL LEADERS APPLIED TO BE TRAINED AS EEC 101 FACILITATORS IN FY22. VIRTUAL EE CIRCLE 101 FACILITATOR TRAININGS WERE HELD IN OCTOBER 2021 AND MARCH 2022, AND 61 LEADERS WERE TRAINED. THE RESULTS OF PRE- AND POST- SURVEYS SHOW THAT ON AVERAGE, PARTICIPANTS FELT ONLY "SOMEWHAT" CONFIDENT BEFORE COMPLETING TRAINING. AFTER COMPLETING TRAINING, PARTICIPANTS ON AVERAGE REPORTED FEELING "QUITE A BIT" CONFIDENT-SHOWING STRONG EVIDENCE OF TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS. IN FY22, CHN CREATED AKOMA NTOSO, AN ONLINE SPACE FOR EE CIRCLE FACILITATORS TO ACCESS MATERIALS, CONNECT, COMMUNICATE, BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, AND SHARE RESOURCES TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR LOCAL EE CIRCLES.
THE ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF "COMMUNITY HEALING DAYS" -DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO PUT TIME FOR HEALING FROM THE LIE OF WHITE SUPERIORITY AND BLACK INFERIORITY AT THE TOP OF THE GLOBAL AFRICAN AGENDA, WAS HELD IN FY22 ON OCTOBER 15, 16, AND 17, 2021. THE THEME FOR COMMUNITY HEALING DAYS 2021 WAS: THE CASE FOR EMOTIONAL REPARATIONS. CHN PRESENTED A VIRTUAL PANEL DISCUSSION DESIGNED TO DEEPEN UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROFOUND EMOTIONAL DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE LIE-AND WHAT WE CAN AND MUST DO TO REPAIR THAT DAMAGE. THE AIM OF THE PANEL WAS TO EQUIP PARTICIPANTS TO BE ABLE TO MAKE THE CASE FOR EMOTIONAL REPARATIONS IN SIMPLE TERMS WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND COLLEAGUES. PANELISTS WERE: DR. JAMETA BARLOW, COMMUNITY PSYCHOLOGIST, GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY; DR. ONAJE MUID, CO-CHAIR OF THE HEALTH COMMISSION OF THE NATIONAL COALITION FOR BLACKS FOR REPARATIONS IN AMERICA; DR. RAYMOND WINBUSH, DIRECTOR, MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY URBAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE; DR. HUBERTA JACKSON-LOWMAN, PROFESSOR OF PSYCHOLOGY, FLORIDA A & M UNIVERSITY. CHN CONCLUDED THE CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY HEALING DAYS 2021 WITH THE PRESENTATION OF COMMUNITY HEALER AWARDS ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2021, TO INTERNATIONAL, NATIONAL, AND LOCAL LEADERS WHO HAVE MADE EXTRAORDINARY CONTRIBUTIONS TO CONFRONTING AND WORKING TO OVERCOME THE LIE OF WHITE SUPERIORITY AND BLACK INFERIORITY. HONOREES WERE: HER EXCELLENCY ARIKANA CHIHOMBORI QUAO, FORMER AFRICAN UNION AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED STATES; REV. DR. ROBERT TURNER, PASTOR OF HISTORIC VERNON AME CHURCH, THE ONLY EDIFICE THAT SURVIVED THE 1921 TULSA RACE MASSACRE; RECORDING ARTIST MAYSA, FOR THE HEALING POWER OF HER VOICE AND MUSIC; DR. WIZDOM POWELL, DIRECTOR OF THE HEALTH EQUITY INSTITUTE AT UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT; REV. ODELL MONTGOMERY, AUTHOR OF INTERRUPTIONS, THE STORY OF HOW SHE TURNED HER PAIN INTO PURPOSE; CIVIL RIGHTS ICON DR. BERNARD LAFAYETTE; AND THE NATIONAL COALITION OF BLACKS FOR REPARATIONS IN AMERICA, TOGETHER WITH FEMALE CO-CHAIR MASHARIKI JYWANZA AND MALE CO-CHAIR KAMM HOWARD.

NEARLY 2000 PEOPLE JOINED FROM PLACES AS NEAR AS CANADA AND AS FAR AWAY AS THE UNITED KINGDOM. OUR TIME TOGETHER WAS CHARACTERIZED BY A SENSE OF CALM AND PEACE. TOPICS EXPLORED INCLUDED: THE LIES AND THE TRUTH; AFRICAN CULTURAL VALUES; KNOWING OUR WHY; HONORING OUR ANCESTORS; REWRITING OUR NARRATIVE; WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SEEN; PLAYING THE "UPLIFTING" DOZENS; AND CREATING EMPOWERING RESPONSES TO RACIAL MACRO-AND MICROAGGRESSIONS. PARTICIPANTS CONSISTENTLY REPORTED A DECREASE IN STRESS LEVELS AT THE END OF EACH SESSION.
