Part 3
DOGS: TVCAS GAVE FOOD, WATER, SHELTER AND LOVE TO: 125 STRAY DOGS FROM TETON COUNTY, 32 SURRENDERED DOGS WHO COULD NO LONGER BE CARED FOR BY THEIR OWNERS FOR A TOTAL 157 DOGS WHO HAD NOWHERE ELSE TO GO. 66 DOGS WERE ADOPTED INTO THEIR FOREVER HOMES, 83 DOGS WERE RETURNED BACK TO THEIR GRATEFUL OWNERS, AND 3 DOGS WERE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER SHELTERS WHERE THEY FOUND FAMILIES WHO WILL LOVE THEM FOREVER. A TOTAL OF 152 DOGS ARE NOW WITH FAMILIES. CATS: TVCAS GAVE FOOD, WATER, SHELTER AND LOVE TO: 89 HOMELESS OR ABANDONED CATS WITH NO ONE TO CARE FOR THEM. 30 CATS WERE SURRENDERED BY OWNERS WHO COULD NO LONGER CARE FOR THEM. A TOTAL OF 119 CATS CAME THROUGH OUR DOORS TO FIND A WARM BED, FOOD, WATER, AND VETERINARY CARE. 119 CATS AND KITTENS FOUND FOREVER HOMES. 5 CATS WERE RETURNED TO THEIR OWNERS, THANKS TO MIRCROCHIPPING, AND 6 CATS WERE TRANSFERRED TO THE ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER WHERE THEY FOUND THEIR FOREVER HOMES. A TOTAL OF 130 CATS ARE NOW WITH FAMILIES. TVCAS SPAYED AND NEUTERED OVER 122 CATS AND DOGS IN 2017. WE ARE THE ONLY SHELTER IN THE AREA THAT INCLUDES SPAY/NEUTER, VACCINES, AND A MICROCHIP WITH EACH AND EVERY ADOPTION. DURING THE COMING YEAR WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT ALL OF THE SURRENDERED DOGS AND CATS. THE NUMBER OF SURRENDERS IS AFFECTED BY THE SEASON (AND NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE VALLEY). DURING PEAK TIMES WE STAFF MORE PERSONNEL, NEED TO RUN MORE ADOPTION EVENTS, AND NEED TO "TRADE" MORE ANIMALS WITH OTHER LIKE SHELTERS IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE OUR ABILITY TO GET DOGS AND CATS QUICKLY ADOPTED. IN ORDER TO SUSTAIN THE OPERATION, WE HAVE A MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CATS AND DOGS THAT CAN BE SAFELY HANDLED -- WE HIT THAT MAXIMUM SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE YEAR.
