5 LOAVES: THE 5 LOAVES PROGRAM IN ESSENCE IS A COOKING PROGRAM ON TUESDAY NIGHTS THAT PREPARES AMAZING "HOME-COOKED" MEALS FOR ABOUT 100 YOUNG STUDENTS ATTENDING OUR PRIME TIME MENTORING PROGRAM. THE TEAM COOKS A MEAL EACH TUESDAY NIGHT FOR THE PRIMETIME KIDS AT THE GERALDINE CLAYTOR MAGNET ACADEMY. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO HELP GATHER SUPPLIES FOR THE WEEK, PREPARE AND HELP COOK WHERE NEEDED. SET UP WILL START AT APPROXIMATELY 4:30 PM AND END AT 7:30 PM ON TUESDAY NIGHTS. TIME SLOTS ARE AVAILABLE AS LATE AS 6:00 PM 7:30 PM.

PRIMETIME: PRIMETIME IS A YOUTH-BASED PROGRAM FOCUSED ON KIDS RANGING FROM 2ND TO 8TH GRADE AT GERALDINE CLAYTOR MAGNET ACADEMY, UP THE STREET FROM THE PT BARNUM APARTMENTS IN BRIDGEPORT. THE PROGRAM IS BUILT ON A STEADY CURRICULUM OF ACTIVITIES, SPORTS AND BIBLE STUDY FROM 5:30 PM TO 7:00 PM FOR GRADES 2-5 AND FROM 6:30 PM TO 8:00 PM FOR GRADES 6-8 ON TUESDAY NIGHTS. WE ALSO HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM ON MONDAY NIGHTS FROM 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. IT ALSO PROVIDES A WARM MEAL, WHICH THE KIDS TRULY APPRECIATE. THIS AGE RANGE IS TRANSFORMATIVE FOR MANY KIDS. MENTORSHIP IS STRONGLY, STRONGLY NEEDED.

XLR8: MANY STUDENTS ARE NOT GIVEN THE PROPER ATTENTION TO CULTIVATE THEIR LEARNING EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOL. WE BELIEVE EDUCATION IS A LADDER AND IF A STUDENT MISSES A STEP WITHOUT PROPER GUIDANCE, THEY CANNOT MOVE ON. WITH XLR8, WE TRY TO BRIDGE THAT GAP FOR THESE STUDENTS AND STRIVE TO SET THEM UP FOR SUCCESS IN SCHOOL WITH POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT. FROM LEARNING KEYBOARD SKILLS TO DOING WORKSHEETS XLR8 WORKS TO EQUIP STUDENTS WITH THE TOOLS TO SHINE IN THE CLASSROOM.
