PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL COURSES, WORKSHOPS, AND ON-SITE AND ONLINE RESOURCES FOR TRAINING MUSICIANS, PASTORS, AND LAYPERSONS AND RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF CHURCH MUSIC.

SACRED MUSIC LIBRARY - THE REFERENCE LIBRARY AND VIRTUAL, ONLINE SEARCHABLE DATABASE FOR STUDY AND EVALUATION HOLDS SOME 43,450 WORKS (25,450 CHORAL - 18,000 ORGAN) FROM COLLECTIONS OF PROMINENT MUSICIANS, CHORAL DIRECTORS, AND CHURCHES, AS WELL AS RECENTLY PUBLISHED COMPOSITIONS. ACQUISITIONS IN 2023 WERE FROM 5 CHURCHES AND 10 PERSONAL LIBRARIES. THE CMI WEBSITE IS INCLUDED IN THE "PERFORMING ARTS WEB ARCHIVE" OF THE U.S. LIBRARY OF CONGRESS. THERE WERE 78,000 WEBSITE PAGE VIEWS, A 4% INCREASE OVER 2022, 9,400 SEARCH PAGE VISITS, AND THE MAILING LIST NOW EXCEEDS 8,000 ADDRESSES. A RODGERS HYBRID ORGAN MODEL 205 IS AVAILABLE FOR TEACHING AND DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES.


PROGRAMS - CMI'S PROGRAMS AND SACRED MUSIC LIBRARIES HAVE PARTICIPATION FROM EVERY STATE IN THE U.S., CANADA, EUROPE, AND ASIA. OVER 9 MONTHS OF THE YEAR, THERE WERE 400 PARTICIPANTS IN 11 VIRTUAL PROGRAMS AND MORE THAN 100 ATTENDED 3 IN-PERSON EVENTS. THESE PROGRAMS WERE PRESENTED BY 14 RECOGNIZED INDIVIDUALS IN THE FIELDS OF CHRISTIAN WORSHIP AND MUSIC AND BRITISH COMPOSER/CONDUCTOR BOB CHILCOTT IN A HIGHLAND PARK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CO-SPONSORED PROGRAM AND HYMN FESTIVAL ATTENDED BY SOME 2,000. IN FURTHERANCE OF HYMN FESTIVALS, A CMI FRIEND CONTRIBUTED $25,000 IN 2023.
