Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
PICKENSPLAN.COM, INC. EDUCATES THE PUBLIC AND POLICYMAKERS ABOUT OUR NATION'S DEPENDENCE ON OPEC OIL AND ITS IMPACT ON OUR ECONOMY AND NATIONAL SECURITY. THE PICKENS PLAN OFFERS WAYS TO ALLEVIATE THIS DEPENDENCY BY RELYING ON AMERICAN ENERGY RESOURCES (SUCH AS WIND GENERATION AND THE USE OF OUR ABUNDANT DOMESTIC NATURAL GAS SUPPLY AS A TRANSPORTATION FUEL AS WELL AS FOR POWER GENERATION) TO DISPLACE OPEC OIL. REDUCING DEPENDENCE ON OPEC OIL PROMOTES SOCIAL WELFARE AND THE COMMON GOOD BY SEEKING TO INCREASE ACCESS TO ENERGY AND TO STABILIZE ENERGY COSTS, AND PERMITTING THE UNITED STATES TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A FOREIGN POLICY THAT IS NOT DRIVEN BY A DESIRE TO PROTECT THE FLOW OF OPEC OIL INTO OUR COUNTRY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
PICKENS PLAN ORGANIZED AND SUPPORTED THE TRAVELS OF ITS SPOKESMAN T. BOONE PICKENS THROUGHOUT THE NATION TO INFORM THE PUBLIC AND POLICYMAKERS ON THE FACTS REGARDING OUR NATION'S DEPENDENCE ON OPEC OIL AT MEETINGS, EVENTS, OUTREACH PROGRAMS, AND FORUMS NATIONWIDE. A STATE-BY-STATE NETWORK OF FIELD CONSULTANTS WAS RECRUITED TO PRESENT THE ISSUES TO THE PEOPLE OF EVERY STATE. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS WERE REACHED THROUGH THESE EFFORTS.
OVER THE YEARTS PICKENS PLAN HAS INFORMED THE PUBLIC AND POLICYMAKERS THROUGH NATIONWIDE PRINT AND WEB ADVERTISEMENTS, AS WELL AS THROUGH PUBIC RELATIONS EFFORTS, INCLUDING PRESS AVAILABILITIES WITH T. BOONE PICKENS, PLACEMENT OF ARTICLES AND COMMENTARIES IN NEWSPAPERS, AND OTHER PUBLIC RELATIONS EFFORTS. DIRECT CONTACT WITH AMERICANS WAS MADE THROUGH THE INTERNET, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND TELEPHONE CONTACT. OUTREACH TO ORGANIZATIONS AND GROUPS PROMOTING DOMESTIC ENERGY ALTERNATIVES WAS UNDERTAKEN. MILLIONS OF AMERICANS WERE REACHED THROUGH THESE ADVERTISING EFFORTS.
PICKENS PLAN CREATED A VIGOROUS AND INTERACTIVE WWW.PICKENSPLAN.COM WEBSITE, WHICH CONTAINS INFORMATION ON THE ORGANIZATION'S ACTIVITIES AND FACTS ABOUT OUR NATION'S DEPENDENCE ON OPEC OIL AND WAYS TO ALLEVIATE THIS DEPENDENCY BY BUILDING NEW WIND GENERATION FACILITIES WHILE USING OUR ABUNDANT DOMESTIC NATURAL GAS SUPPLY. 1,600,000 AMERICANS HAVE RESPONDED AND INDICATED THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE PICKENS PLAN. SUBSTANTIAL RESEARCH WAS UNDERTAKEN TO MAKE DETAILED INFORMATION AND FACTS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AND POLICYMAKERS (TOGETHER WITH PUBLIC OPINION RESEARCH). THE PICKENS PLAN ALSO COMMUNICATED WITH AMERICANS THROUGH THE SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKING SITES FACEBOOK AND TWITTER. OVER A MILLION AMERICANS WERE REACHED THROUGH THESE EFFORTS.
