Part 3 - Line 4a

FOOD AND SOCIAL SERVICES: RPM BEGAN A KEY PARTNERSHIP IN 2020 WITH SEWA INTERNATIONAL'S SANTA CLARA COUNTY CHAPTER THAT TOOK ON NEW DEPTH AND INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES IN 2021. THROUGH THE PARTNERSHIP WE WERE ABLE TO REACH THE MOST VULNERABLE IN THE COMMUNITY IN THREE KEY WAYS 1) USDA FARMERS TO FAMILIES FOOD BOX DISTRIBUTIONS (11,016 BOXES TOTALING MORE THAN $889K IN VALUE WERE GIVEN DIRECTLY TO RPM TO DISPERSE ACROSS 23 LOCATIONS WE SERVED DURING THE PANDEMIC), 2) CONNECTING AND BRIDGING UNDOCUMENTED INDIVIDUALS FOR ECONOMIC PAYOUTS AND 3) SUPPORTING SEWA'S EFFORTS TO IDENTIFY LOW INCOME EARNERS (LESS THAN 30% AMI) THAT WERE IMPACTED BY COVID-19 WITH UNPAID RENT, PREVENTING HOMELESSNESS BEFORE IT STARTS. RPM HELD 15 OUTREACHES ACROSS NORTH COUNTY GOING TO PEOPLE IN NEED CREATING ACCESS TO RENT AND ECONOMIC PAYOUTS, COVID-19 EDUCATION, PAPERWORK AND SERVICES. WE WERE THE BRIDGE TO THE COMMUNITY SEWA NEEDED TO FULFILL THEIR GRANT COMMITMENTS. RPM IS GRASSROOTS IN ITS EFFORTS, BOOTS ON THE GROUND, BRINGING SPANISH-SPEAKING TEAMS, DIGITAL AND LITERACY SUPPORT, REMOVING BARRIERS TO ACCESS FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE. EACH OUTREACH WAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR RPM TO CONNECT THE RECIPIENTS TO ADDITIONAL SUPPORT, PROVIDING MULTI-LINGUAL, UP-TO-DATE FEDERAL, STATE AND COUNTY COVID-19 GUIDELINES AND SERVICES AVAILABLE TO THEM. TRULY, A MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL PARTNERSHIP. ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT PARTNERSHIP FOR RPM THAT DEEPENED DURING 2021 WAS WITH CITYTEAM (CTM). WE WORKED TOGETHER TO ADDRESS FOOD INSECURITY AND THE CRISIS BROUGHT ON BY THE PANDEMIC AT THREE LOCATIONS IN NORTH SANTA CLARA COUNTY; ONE LOCATED AT AN EXTREMELY POOR PUBLIC-SCHOOL COMMUNITY (85%+ FRL), ANOTHER AT A LOW-INCOME APARTMENT COMPLEX, AND LASTLY LAUNCHING A PANTRY IN AN UNREACHED AREA. ACROSS THESE LOCATIONS WE SERVED OVER 2,500 INDIVIDUALS, TOTALING MORE THAN 600 UNIQUE FAMILIES. CTM'S PARTNERSHIP WITH SECOND HARVEST OF SILICON VALLEY AND CTM'S LOGISTICS SUPPORT AIDED RPM SUBSTANTIALLY, ALLOWING RPM TO INCREASE ITS OUTREACH EFFORTS.

STUDENT SUPPORT: RPM WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TUTORING AND ACADEMIC SERVICES IN SUNNYVALE BY CREATING A ZERO-COST, AFTER-SCHOOL CARE POD OFFERING LITERACY, HOMEWORK AND BIBLE STUDIES FOR LOW-INCOME STUDENTS. IN THE SUMMER OF 2021, RPM ENROLLED 60 LOW-INCOME STUDENTS ACROSS TWO CODING CAMPS FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO WON A GRANT TO LEAD CODING CAMP. ENROLLED STUDENTS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN THEIR VERY OWN GOOGLE CHROMEBOOK IF THEY ATTENDED 80% OR MORE OF THE CODING CLASSES. WE ARE HAPPY TO REPORT 95% OF THE CHROMEBOOKS WERE EARNED. FREE SNACKS AND MEALS WERE ALSO PROVIDED. CODING CAMP STUDENTS WERE ALSO INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL CLASSES THAT BEGAN BEFORE OR AFTER CAMP, DEPENDENT ON LOCATION.
