THE MISSION OF THE MERIWETHER FOUNDATION IS TO IMPROVE HEALTH, EMPOWER COMMUNITIES, AND ALLEVIATE POVERTY, WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON UNDERSERVED RURAL AND PERI-URBAN AREAS OF SOUTHERN AFRICA. WE OPERATE HEALTH, EDUCATION, NUTRITION, AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS IN RURAL AND PERI- URBAN AREAS OF SOUTH AFRICA, ZIMBABWE, ZAMBIA, MALAWI AND MOZAMBIQUE.

MEDICAL: DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT CURATIVE AND PREVENTIVE HEALTH PROGRAMS IN RURAL AND PERI-URBAN COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHERN AFRICA. IN ADDITION TO EFFECTIVELY TREATING THOSE WHO ARE SICK, THE FOUNDATION ALSO IMPLEMENTS PUBLIC HEALTH METHODS TO EDUCATE THE POPULATION AND PROMOTE PREVENTION. PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF CLINICS AND HEALTH CENTERS, MOBILE CLINICS, COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIRS, AND WATER AND SANITATION PROJECTS.
EDUCATION: TO BREAK THE PATTERN OF GENERATIONAL POVERTY, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES INDIVIDUALS WITH ACCESS TO EDUCATION. WE PARTNER WITH AND SUPPORT LOCAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, WORK TO IMPROVE STUDENT OUTCOMES AND PERFORMANCE, AND TRAIN TEACHERS TO IMPLEMENT RIGOROUS CURRICULA TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION.
