GAN ISRAEL PRESCHOOL'S OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE DAY CARE SERVICES TO CHILDREN AGES 18 MONTHS TO 5 YEARS IN THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL CA. THE PRESCHOOL'S MISSION IS TO PREPARE CHILDREN FOR FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRANSITION INTO KINDERGARTEN AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO ENRICH THEIR KNOWLEDGE IN JEWISH CULTURE AND TRADITIONS AND TO ENABLE PARENTS TO ATTEND PLACES OF EMPLOYMENT WHILE THEIR CHILDREN ARE BEING CARED FOR IN A NATURAL OUTDOOR AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT. THIS YEAR THE PRESCHOOL PROVIDED SERVICES FOR 33 STUDENTS MANY OF WHOSE FAMILIES HAVE DIFFICULTY PAYING FULL TUITION. THE PRESCHOOL WORKS WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO FIND PROGRAM FUNDING AS WELL AS TO PROVIDE TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS AND DISCOUNTS TO THOSE FAMILIES. ANY FUNDS CONTRIBUTED TO THE PRESCHOOL ARE REDIRECTED THROUGH ITS SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO FAMILIES WHO QUALIFY FOR FINANCIAL AID AS WELL AS TO PROGRAM ENRICHMENT. IN ADDITION TO DISTRIBUTING THE SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNTS RECEIVED FROM COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS THE PRESCHOOL PROVIDES FINANCIALLY CHALLENGED FAMILIES WITH EXTRA TUITION DISCOUNTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS. THE PRESCHOOL ACCOMPLISHED ITS PRIMARY MISSION OF PROVIDING EARLY JEWISH CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TO YOUNG CHILDREN WHILE AT THE SAME TIME ENABLING FINANCIALLY-STRAPPED PARENTS TO SEND THEIR CHILD TO THEIR PRESCHOOL OF CHOICE.
