IN 2023, F.O.R. NATCHEZ CONTINUED ITS WORK OF ASSISTING THE CITY OF NATCHEZ IN CONSERVING AND REVITALIZING THE HISTORIC NATCHEZ BLUFF AND RIVERFRONT AS OUTLINED IN THE CITY'S DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN. SPECIFICALLY, F.O.R. SUCCESSFULLY SHEPHERDED THE FORMATION OF THE DOWNTOWN NATCHEZ ALLIANCE (DNA), A NEW 501 C 3, AND SERVED AS FISCAL AGENT FOR DNA UNTIL JUNE 2023, AT WHICH TIME THE FISCAL AGENCY RELATIONSHIP WAS CONCLUDED. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY AND ADAMS COUNTY, F.O.R. PARTICIPATED IN OVERSEEING A $500,000 EPA BROWNFIELD GRANT FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS OF KEY PROPERTIES IN THE DOWNTOWN. FOR SUPPORTED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW VISITOR CENTER ON THE BLUFF, AS PER THE DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN, AND ALSO COLLABORATED WITH DNA ON SEEKING GRANT MONEY TO FUND A $452,500 PROJECT TO LANDSCAPE THE PUBLIC BLUFF PARK SURROUNDING THE DEPOT ON THE BLUFF. THE RESULT WAS A $362,000 MISSISSIPPI MAIN STREET REVITALIZATION GRANT (MMSRG) TO DNA WITH A $90,500 MATCH FROM THE CITY. FINALLY, IN 2023, F.O.R. ADDED TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS AND BEGAN A STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS WITH A VIEW TOWARD CREATING A SUSTAINABLE PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP WITH CITY OF NATCHEZ/PARKS & RECREATION FOR THE ONGOING CONSERVATION, MAINTENANCE, ANDMANAGEMENT OF THE HISTORIC NATCHEZ BLUFF AND RIVERFRONT.
