CLOSING THE GAPS NETWORK - THE CLOSING THE GAPS NETWORK IS A PROGRAMMATIC AREA CONSISTING OF THREE SUB INITIATIVES, WHICH ARE PRACTICE AREAS, STRATEGY AREA, AND FIELD BUILDING AND SECTORAL CHANGE. THE CLOSING THE GAPS NETWORK ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THROUGH POLICIES, LAWS, AND PRACTICES THAT CONFERRED ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES ALONG RACIAL LINES, GOVERNMENT HAS PLAYED A LARGE ROLE IN CREATING AND MAINTAINING INEQUITIES THAT HAVE LED TO RACIAL INCOME AND WEALTH GAPS. GOVERNMENT CAN PLAY AN OUTSIZED ROLE IN ADDRESSING THEM. THE NETWORK BRINGS TOGETHER LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEADERS FROM UP TO 30 CITIES FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY WHO ARE COMMITTED TO IMAGINING WHAT AN ANTIRACIST SOCIETY MIGHT LOOK LIKE, AND TO PLAYING AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN BUILDING IT THROUGH TRANSFORMING GOVERNMENT POLICIES, PRACTICES, AND OPERATIONS.
CAPITAL FOR THE NEW MAJORITY - ACCORDING TO EXISTING DATA TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE SCALE OF THE RACIAL INCOME AND WEALTH GAPS, CAPITAL IS NOT DISTRIBUTED EQUITABLY. IN A COUNTRY UNDERGOING RAPID DEMOGRAPHIC SHIFTS, ADDRESSING SYSTEMIC RACIAL DISPARITIES IS PARAMOUNT. THIS PROJECT WILL IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES TO SHIFT POWER WITHIN THE CAPITAL SYSTEMS AND ACHIEVE BETTER OUTCOMES FOR ALL PEOPLE LIVING IN U.S. CITIES. CAPITAL FOR THE NEW MAJORITY WILL EXPLORE THE CREATION OF A HYBRID EQUITY FUND THAT ADDRESSES THE CAPITAL NEEDS OF FUND MANAGERS OF COLOR, EXAMINE WAYS TO LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD FOR WEALTH BUILDING, AND LEVERAGE RELATIONSHIPS TO PROMOTE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMUNITY PRACTICE THAT CHANNELS CAPITAL INTO THE HANDS OF FOUNDERS AND FUND MANAGERS OF COLOR.
LEARNING, STORYTELLING AND RESULTS - BY OPEN SOURCING SOCIAL CHANGE, LIVING CITIES WORKS AT THE INTERSECTION OF LEARNING, INFORMATION, STORY AND TECHNOLOGY TO BRING PEOPLE AND RESOURCES TOGETHER. LEARNING, STORYTELLING AND RESULTS EXPLORES WAYS IN WHICH DATA AND LEARNING STORIES CAN BE GATHERED, ANALYZED AND USED IN DECISION-MAKING FOR COLLECTIVE IMPACT INITIATIVES. THIS PROJECT DISSEMINATES VARIOUS TOOLS AND RESOURCES IN AN EFFORT TO DEEPEN AND ACCELERATE PROMISING SOLUTIONS TO CLOSING RACIAL INCOME AND WEALTH GAPS.
