TO PROVIDE A QUALITY PRE-HOSPITAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE AND MEDICAL TRANSPORT TO THE RESIDENTS AND GUESTS OF LEWISTOWN AND SURROUNDING AREAS, AS WELL AS OTHER CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THIS MISSION. THE CORPORATION WILL RESPOND TO ALL EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY REQUESTS IN A TIMELY AND SAFE MANNER CONSISTENT WITH THE PENNSYLVANIA EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE ACT.

THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICES TO BURNHAM BOROUGH, DECATUR TOWNSHIP, DERRY TOWNSHIP, GRANVILLE TOWNSHIP, JUNIATA TERRACE BOROUGH, AND LEWISTOWN BOROUGH AND SERVES AS A BACKUP EMERGENCY SERVICE FOR THE REST OF MIFFLIN COUNTY. THE ORGANIZATION IS GOVERNED BY A SEVEN-MEMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS COMPRISED OF COMMUNITY LEADERS FROM THE SERVICE AREA. FAME EMS OPERATES SIX ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT AMBULANCES, TWO BASIC LIFE SUPPORT AMBULANCE, FIVE NON-EMERGENCY TRANSPORT VANS, AND ONE SPECIAL OPERATIONS REHAB UNIT. STAFFING IS PROVIDED BY DEDICATED CAREER AND VOLUNTEER MEMBERS, WITH A MINIMUM OF THREE EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS (EMTS) AND THREE PARAMEDICS ON DUTY 24 HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, ALONG WITH ADDITIONAL WEEKDAY STAFFING.
