Part 3 - Line 4a
CONCORDIA OF MONROEVILLE IS A LIFE PLAN COMMUNITY LOCATED IN THE HEART OF MONROEVILLE SERVING THE LOCAL AGING POPULATION INCLUDING A 59-BED SKILLED NURSING UNIT. THIS COMMUNITY PROVIDES SHORT-TERM REHABILITATION OR LONG-TERM NURSING CARE IN A CHRISTIAN ENVIRONMENT DEVOTED TO COMFORT AND HEALING. OUR DEDICATED SHORT-TERM REHABILITATION TEAM IS IN PLACE TO MOTIVATE, SUPPORT AND INCREASE THE OVERALL FUNCTIONING OF EACH PATIENT. THOSE WHO CHOOSE CONCORDIA OF MONROEVILLE LONG-TERM NURSING CARE ARE GIVEN THE LOVE, RESPECT AND KINDNESS OF A FAMILY MEMBER, AS WELL AS THE SECURITY OF BEING IN A PLACE DESIGNED TO HELP THEM THRIVE. OUR FUNDING INCLUDES MEDICARE, MEDICAID, INSURANCE AND PRIVATE PAYERS. IN AUGUST 2014, CONCORDIA LUTHERAN MINISTRIES OF PITTSBURGH ACQUIRED 100% OF THE MEMBERSHIP INTEREST IN CONCORDIA OF MONROEVILLE, FORMALLY KNOWN AS THE CEDARS OF MONROEVILLE. AT THE TIME OF FILING, THE FACILITY RECEIVED A RATING OF FIVE STARS ON THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES AWARD. THROUGH JUNE 2021, CONCORDIA SERVED THE LOCAL COMMUNITY BY SUBSIDIZING SIGNIFICANT COSTS DURING THE YEAR INCLUDING OVER 10,500 RESIDENT DAYS OF MEDICAID SERVICES. THE TOTAL BENEVOLENT CARE AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COST AND REIMBURSEMENT FROM THE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WAS $1,095,000. DURING 2020, WE HAVE SUPPORTED LOCAL CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, AS WELL AS PURCHASING HYGIENE SUPPLIES FOR THOSE IN NEED. WE HAVE ASSISTED EMPLOYEES BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR FOOD AND SUPPLIES DURING CHALLENGING TIMES.
CONCORDIA OF MONROEVILLE INCLUDES AN 87-BED PERSONAL CARE UNIT AND 2 INDEPENDENT LIVING QUARTERS WITH OUR FUNDING PRIVATE PAYERS. THE BUILDING INCLUDES VARIOUS FLOOR PLAN OPTIONS WITH A CARING STAFF THAT INVOKES A FAMILY FEELING WITH AN ENVIRONMENT DESIGNED FOR COMFORT AND ASSISTANCE WITH ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING, SUCH AS BATHING AND PERSONAL HYGIENE, MOBILITY ASSISTANCE, PREPARATION OF MEALS, ACTIVITIES, LAUNDRY AND SPIRITUAL CARE. CONCORDIA HAS HOSTED A TRICK-OR-TREAT, EASTER EGG HUNT SOCIAL AND CHRISTMAS PARTIES OPENED RESIDENTS. THE RESIDENTS HAVE ALSO MADE COOKIES AND PROJECTS FOR THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT AND MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAM.
THE CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY (PHE) POSED MANY CHALLENGES, AS WELL AS OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE ORGANIZATION THROUGH THE YEAR. WE SAW A SHIFT IN HEALTHCARE. THE PANDEMIC HAS CREATED NEW WAYS OF THINKING AND SOLUTIONS THAT WILL HELP TO CARRY HEALTHCARE SERVICES INTO THE FUTURE. IN MARCH 2020, THE ORGANIZATION IMPLEMENTED ITS EMERGENCY DISASTER PLAN. THE LEADERSHIP TEAM ACROSS THE CONTINUUM MET ROUTINELY TO CONTINUOUSLY EVALUATE THE SITUATION REGARDING THE PHE AND EVER-CHANGING STATE AND FEDERAL GUIDANCE FOR THE SAFE CARE OF PATIENTS WITH SUSPECTED OR KNOWN COVID-19 INFECTIONS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO KEEP ALL STAFF SAFE AND HEALTHY. AT TIMES, STAFFING BECAME A CHALLENGE WHEN STAFF NEEDED TO QUARANTINE DUE TO EXPOSURE OR TESTING POSITIVE FOR COVID-19. A STAFFING CONTINGENCY PLAN WAS PUT INTO PLACE SO THAT THE ORGANIZATION WOULD BE ABLE TO CARRY OUT ITS MISSION TO CARE FOR AS MANY PATIENTS AS POSSIBLE IN THE SAFEST OF WAYS. THROUGHOUT THE COVID-19 PHE, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED FOCUSED EDUCATION ON VARIOUS RELATED TOPICS. THESE TOPICS INCLUDED WHAT COVID-19 IS, HOW TO PREVENT THE SPREAD, HOW TO CARE FOR PATIENTS THAT ARE POSITIVE FOR COVID-19, MITIGATION EFFORTS, PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT UTILIZATION (THE ORGANIZATION PURCHASED $103,032 OF PPE AND RELATED SUPPLIES THROUGHOUT THE PAST YEAR) AND OTHER INFECTION CONTROL PRACTICES. THIS EDUCATION WAS PROVIDED THROUGH VARYING PLATFORMS SUCH AS SECURE MESSAGING, AT VIRTUAL STAFF MEETINGS AND THROUGH THE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE, ELSEVIER. STAFF HAVE ALSO BEEN EDUCATED ON COVID-19 VACCINATIONS AND THE IMPORTANCE OF VACCINATIONS AS A TOOL TO HELP END THE PHE. A CORPORATE NURSING TEAM WAS ESTABLISHED TO ASSIST WITH EDUCATION AND ADMINISTRATION RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VACCINATIONS. THE VACCINATION WAS ADMINISTERED TO FELLOW CO-WORKERS, PATIENTS, RESIDENTS AND MEMBERS OF SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES AT NO CHARGE.
