FOUNDED IN 1984, ANGELS PLACE, INC. IS A COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT CENTER FOR SINGLE STUDENT PARENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN. THE TWO PITTSBURGH CENTERS OFFER NO PAY SERVICES INCLUDING: NAEYC ACCREDITED CHILD CARE, PARENTING CLASSES, TUTORING, ASSISTANCE WITH JOB PLACEMENT AND HELP WITH PRACTICAL NEEDS SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHING AND CHILDREN'S EQUIPMENT/FURNITURE. USING A MULTI GENERATIONAL APPROACH, THIS PROGRAM HAS ENABLED HUNDREDS OF GRADUATES TO FIND SATISFYING EMPLOYMENT, BECOME PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS AND LOOK FORWARD TO BRIGHTER FUTURES WITH THEIR CHILDREN. THE ORGANIZATION HAS PRIMARILY SERVED SINGLE PARENTS WHO WERE FULL-TIME STUDENTS, AND THEY REMAIN A PRIORITY. HOWEVER DUE TO THE INCREASING NEED IN THE COMMUNITY FOR AFFORDABLE HIGH-QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CHILD CARE, SERVICES HAVE BEEN EXPANDED TO ALSO INCLUDE WORKING SINGLE PARENTS OF LOW-INCOME, WHO PAY A SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED FEE.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM:COMMITTED TO THE BELIEF THAT EVERY HUMAN LIFE IS VALUABLE, THE VISION OF ANGELS PLACE, IS TO PROVIDE SINGLE PARENTS WHO ARE LOW-INCOME, FULL-TIME STUDENTS WITH THE HELP NEEDED TO COMPLETE THEIR EDUCATION, SO THAT THEY MAY SECURE SATISFYING EMPLOYMENT, ESTABLISH CAREERS AND BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT CITIZENS. THESE SERVICES HAVE RECENTLY BEEN EXPANDED TO ALSO INCLUDE WORKING, SINGLE PARENTS OF LOW-INCOME, WHO PAY A SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED FEE. THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDES NO-PAY OR SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED CHILD CARE THAT EMBODIES OVER 30 YEARS OF BEST PRACTICES OF EDUCATION, FAMILY AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT TO CHILDREN BIRTH TO FIVE YEARS WHILE THEIR PARENTS ATTEND SCHOOL AND WORK. USING OUR EVIDENCE-BASED SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL CURRICULUM WE ARE PROVIDING A FRAMEWORK FOR OUR CHILDREN TO ENTER KINDERGARTEN READY TO LEARN WITH POSITIVE APPROACHES TOWARDS NAVIGATING LIFE. MEETING THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF CHILDREN AND PARENTS FACING MULTIPLE RISK FACTORS, ANGELS PLACE PROVIDES FAMILY SUPPORT, ACCESS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND NEEDED INTERVENTIONS. OUR TWO ANGELS PLACE CENTERS ARE ACCREDITED THROUGH THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN (NAEYC) AND ACHIEVED A 4 STAR RATING FROM PENNSYLVANIAS KEYSTONE STARS, THE HIGHEST RATING OFFERED. WE ARE ALSO ACCREDITED THROUGH PENNSYLVANIA ASSOCIATION OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS (PANO). WHILE MAINTAINING SAID ACCREDITATIONS, ANGELS PLACE PROVIDES A LOVING, NURTURING, SAFE AND HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT THAT EVERY PARENT AND CHILD DESERVES.
FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM:THE FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM OFFERS, AT NO CHARGE TO FAMILIES, SUPPORT TOWARDS ACCOMPLISHING EDUCATIONAL GOALS AND FAMILY SUSTAINABILITY. A FAMILY SERVICE PLAN IS CREATED BY OUR LICENSED SOCIAL WORKER TO ADDRESS THE INDIVIDUALIZED NEEDS OF OUR FAMILIES. ADDITIONAL SERVICES INCLUDE COUNSELING, TUTORING, OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH BY PARTICIPATION IN WEEKLY PARENT EDUCATION CLASSES COVERING LIFE SKILLS, PARENTING ISSUES, HEALTH AND SAFETY AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION. REFERRALS OF ENROLLED PARENTS AND CHILDREN TO COMMUNITY PARTNER AGENCIES FOSTER SELF-DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY STABILITY. ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED IN MEETING THE PRACTICAL NEEDS OF FAMILIES SUCH AS CLOTHING, HOUSEHOLD ITEMS AND OTHER BASIC NECESSITIES.
