THE MISSION OF THE PENNSYLVANIA ASSOCIATION OF STUDENT COUNCILS IS TO OFFER YEAR ROUND OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP AND APPLY LEADERSHIP SKILLS

PASC SUMMER LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP: THIS YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO RETURN TO AN IN-PERSON WORKSHOP FORMAT. OUR 4 DAY WORKSHOP WAS HELD ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS AND STUDENTS STAYED IN THE DORMITORIES DURING THEIR 3 NIGHT STAY. THIS WORKSHOP WAS OPEN TO ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE COMMONWEALTH. APPROXIMATELY 55 STUDENTS ATTENDED THE SUMMER LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP PROGRAM THIS YEAR.
PASC STATE CONFERENCE: THE ORGANIZATION WAS ALSO ABLE TO RETURN TO AN IN-PERSON FORMAT FOR OUR ANNUAL STATE CONFERENCE. THIS YEAR THE HOST SCHOOL ADAPTED THE SCHEDULE TO A TWO DAY CONFERENCE. THIS ALLOWED MORE STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE CONFERENCE AS MANY DISTRICTS STILL HAD A RESTRICTION ON OVERNIGHT EVENTS. BOTH STUDENTS AND ADVISORS LEARNED SKILLS THAT ARE INTEGRAL TO THE LEADERSHIP JOB SET; INCLUDING TIME MANAGEMENT, HOW TO DEAL WITH STRESS, AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION. ATTENDEE S WERE ABLE TO HEAR INSPIRATIONAL STORIES AND MOTIVATIONAL MESSAGES FROM THREE DIFFERENT KEY NOTE SPEAKERS. THE CONFERENCE WAS ABLE TO HOST APPROXIMATELY 650 STUDENTS AND ADVISORS FROM ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH.
SENATE YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM:THE US SENATE YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM IS SPONSERED BY THE WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST FOUNDATION.IN PENNSYLVANIA PASC ADMINISTERS THIS PROGRAM ON BEHALF OF THE HEARST FOUNDATION AND PDE. PASC SENDS INFORMATION TO ALL SCHOOLS IN PENNSYLVANIA REGARDING THE ANNUAL PROCESS. PASC ALSO COORDINATES THE SCORING OF APPLICANTS, AS WELL AS THE INTERVIEWS OF THE TEN FINALISTS AND SELECTIONL OF THE RECIPIENTS FROM PENNSYLVANIA. EACH YEAR TWO STUDENTS ARE CHOSEN FOR A WEEK IN WASHINGTON DC, AS WELL AS A $10,000 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP.
