WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE, FOUNDED IN 1781, IS KNOWN FOR ITS HIGHLY CUSTOMIZED AND INTELLECTUALLY ENGAGING STUDENT EXPERIENCE THAT DEVELOPS PROFESSIONALS OF UNCOMMON INTEGRITY TO LEAD IN AN EVER-CHANGING WORLD. THE FOUR HALLMARKS OF THIS EXPERIENCE ARE "CUSTOMIZED JOURNEYS," A UNIQUE, LIFE-CYCLE APPROACH TO SELF-DISCOVERY, ACADEMIC ADVISING AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT; "INTELLECTUAL ENGAGEMENT," INCLUDING A REQUIREMENT TO STUDY BROADLY IN TWO DIFFERENT ACADEMIC AREAS; "PROFESSIONAL READINESS," INDIVIDUALIZED DEVELOPMENTAL EXPERIENCES INCLUDING A REQUIRED PRACTICUM RELEVANT TO A DESIRED CAREER; AND "ETHICAL LEADERSHIP," A FOUR-YEAR CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAM FOR ALL STUDENTS TO DEVELOP COMPETENCIES IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION, CIVIL DISCOURSE, PROFESSIONALISM, AND SERVICE TO OTHERS. STATISTICS - UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS: 1,162 FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT STUDENTS INCLUDING 246 GRADUATES.BASED ON GUIDANCE FROM THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ALONG WITH THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION, THE COLLEGE FOLLOWED NUMEROUS OPERATING RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION. THESE PROTOCOLS INCLUDED BUT WERE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: 1) SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO WERE ELIGIBLE TO LIVE ON CAMPUS; 2) RE-CONFIGURED CLASSROOMS, RESIDENCE HALLS, EATING SPACES AND OTHER COMMON AREAS TO ALLOW FOR RECOMMENDED SOCIAL DISTANCING; 3) IMPLEMENTED REGULAR COVID-19 TESTING AND ESTABLISHED ISOLATION AND QUARANTINE PROTOCOLS; 4) CONDUCTED ENHANCED CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THROUGHOUT CAMPUS; 5) MODIFIED AIR HANDLERS AND FILTERS FOR HVAC SYSTEMS; 6) POSTED SIGNS ON BUILDING ENTRANCES AND THROUGHOUT CAMPUS TO COMMUNICATE COVID-19 PROTOCOLS; AND 7) NUMEROUS OTHER COVID-19 MITIGATION INITIATIVES.
