VARIETY OF KANSAS CITY WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE SERVICES IN TWO MAJOR AREAS, COMMUNITY PROJECTS AND MOBILITY & COMMUNICATION. VARIETY OF KANSAS CITY PROVIDES FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS TO PROVIDE ACCESS AND INCLUSIVITY FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES. A FEW EXAMPLES FROM THE 21-22 FISCAL YEAR INCLUDE A SPLASH PAD IN THE CITY OF LATHROP, CHANGING STATIONS AND SENSORY KITS FOR THE KC ROYALS, AND ACCESSIBILITY AT THE KC ZOO. VKC WAS ABLE TO DISTRIBUTE $215,197.29 IN COMMUNITY PROJECTS WITHIN THE KC AREA. VKC ALSO PROVIDES MOBILITY AND COMMUNICATION DEVICES FOR CHILDREN. IN FY 21 - 22, VKC PROVIDED $298,418.68 FOR THE PURCHASE OF 227 DEVICES TO OVER 100 CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES. THESE DEVICES INCLUDED A MODIFIED VAN, ADAPTIVE BIKES, COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND APPS, AND MODIFICATIONS TO CURRENT EQUIPMENT.
