THE ALTOONA AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY IS A FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVING THE NEEDS OF THE CITIZENS OF ALTOONA AND ITS SURROUNDING AREAS. THE LIBRARY OFFERS A WIDE RANGE OF SERVICES AND REFERENCE MATERIALS SUCH AS BOOKS, RECORDS, FILMS, ETC. AT NO CHARGE AND PROVIDES PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES. THE LIBRARY HAS ALSO BEEN DESIGNATED BY THE STATE LIBRARY OF PENNSYLVANIA AS A DISTRICT LIBRARY CENTER FOR BLAIR, BEDFORD, AND HUNTINGDON COUNTIES. IT RECEIVES FEDERAL, STATE, AND PRIVATE FUNDING TO ADMINISTER FUNDS AND PROVIDE INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICES, PUBLIC RELATIONS, AND ADVISORY SERVICES TO THE PUBLIC LIBRARIES IN THESE THREE COUNTIES.
