KVAC PROVIDES AMBULANCE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT TO RESIDENTS OF OVER 690 SQUARE MILES IN HERKIMER, HAMILTON AND ONEIDA COUNTIES. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES THROUGH HERKIMER COUNTY MUTUAL AID. MUTUAL AID IS PROVIDED AGENCIES IN HERKIMER, ONEIDA AND HAMILTON COUNTIES. IT PROVIDES SERVICES TO THE TOWNS OF RUSSIA, NEWPORT, NORWAY, OHIO, MOREHOUSE AND PARTS OF DEERFIELD. IT PROVIDES SERVICES TO THE VILLAGES OF COLDBROOK, POLAND, NEWPORT AND MIDDLEVILLE. THIS VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION IS STAFFED BY INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVE IN THE COMMUNITY AND ARE TRAINED AS PARAMEDICS, CRITICAL CARE EMTS, EMT-D'S AND DRIVERS. THE ORGANIZATION EMPLOYS STAFF (PARAMEDICS AND EMT) FOR DAYTIME AND EVENING COVERAGE FROM 6:00 AM UNTIL 12:00 PM, 18/HOURS PER DAY. THE ORGANIZATION VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL COVERAGE AS NEEDED FOR NIGHT TIME HOURS AND TO HELP COVER MULTIPLE CALLS DURING THE DAY. ORGANIZATION VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE STAFF FOR FUND RAISING EVENTS SUCH AS A CHICKEN BARBEQUE, ORGANIZATION VOLUNTEERS ALSO PROVIDE MANAGEMENT FOR THE CORPS BY SERVING AS BOARD OF DIRECTORS, OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS. PAID STAFF DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN CORPS' MANAGEMENT AND CANNOT VOLUNTEER IN THE ORGANIZATION. IT OPERATES TWO ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (ALS) AMBULANCES.IN 2022, THERE WERE 400 CALLS.
