VALLEY BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER BROWNSVILLE AUXILIARY WAS ORGANIZED TO PROVIDE CARE AND COMFORT TO HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES, PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND VISITORS.

VALLEY BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER BROWNSVILLE AUXILIARY WAS ORGANIZED TO ASSIST THE EMPLOYEES, PATIENTS, FAMILIES AND VISITORS OF VALLEY BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER BROWNSVILLE. VOLUNTEERS ASSIST AT THE FRONT DESK, DELIVER NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES, FLOWERS AND MAIL. THEY SERVE IN THE GIFT SHOP AND OFFER SPIRITUAL SUPPORT AND COMPANIONSHIP.


TO ENCOURAGE NURSING CAREERS, THE AUXILIARY PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO FINANCIALY ASSIST STUDENTS PURSUING A POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION IN NURSING OR AN ALLIED HEALTH VOCATION.


VBMC BROWNSVILLE AUXILIARY DONATES AMOUNTS TO SUPPORT LOCAL COMMUNTY SERVICES AND PROVIDES IN-KIND ITEMS IN SUPPORT OF COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS. THE AUXILIARY ALSO SUPPORTS PROGRAMS INVOLVING IN-HOSPITAL BASED VOCATIONS AND RECOGNITION TO EMPLOYEES AND PATIENTS. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE A)CONTRIBUTIONS TO TENET CARE FUND WHERE EMPLOYEES WITH DOCUMENTED CRISIS CAN APPLY FOR ASSISTANCE WITH BASIC LIVING, FUNERAL OR MEDICAL EXPENSES THAT THE EMPLOYEE HAS NO OTHER WAY TO FUND B)GUARDIAN ANGEL PROGRAM WHERE PATIENTS CAN MAKE A DONATION IN HONOR OF A HOSPITAL STAFF MEMBER FOR THE EXCELLENT CARE PROVIDED TO THEM. THE EMPLOYEE IS RECOGNIZED WITH A GUARDIAN ANGEL PIN AND THE DONOR RECEIVES CONFIRMATION OF THE DONATION AND A PHOTO OF THE PRESENTATION. DONATIONS ARE ADDED TO THE AUXILIARY'S SCHOLARSHIP FUND.
