ORPA EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMING: THE CORE OF WHAT WE OFFER OUR MEMBERSHIP, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OCCUR THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WITH A FOCUS ON 1-DAY, IN-PERSON AND HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS. WE HOSTED 10 WORKSHOPS, 3 CERTIFICATION COURSES, AND 43 WEBINARS.


LEADERSHIP ACADEMY: THIS WAS THE INAUGURAL YEAR OF THE ORPA LEADERSHIP ACADEMY DEVELOPED IN TANDEM WITH PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY. WE OFFERED A 16-STUDENT COHORT AN 8-MONTH PROGRAM FOCUSED ON 5 CORE COMPETENCIES AS DEFINED BY LEADERS IN PARKS AND RECREATION AROUND THE STATE. PROGRAM TUITION COVERED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS DELIVERED BY THE PSU CENTER OF EXECUTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION (NON-CREDIT). THE PROGRAM ALSO INCLUDED A CAPSTONE PROJECT AND GUIDED MENTORSHIP PROGRAM.


ORPA ANNUAL CONFERENCE: OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCE IS OUR PREMIER EVENT OF THE YEAR. THIS YEAR WE HIT RECORD NUMBERS IN ATTENDANCE, IN PART DUE TO OUR LOCATION IN THE PORTLAND METRO AREA. THIS CONFERENCE BOASTED 36 BREAKOUT SESSIONS, THREE FIELD SESSIONS, A TRADE SHOW/EXPO HALL, AND GENERAL EDUCATION SESSIONS.


ORPA LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES: ORPA MONITORED STATE LEGISLATION RELATED TO PARK AND RECREATION POLICY, FUNDING, AND REGULATIONS. THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTED LIMITED GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES.
