ORPA EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING: NO IN-PERSON EVENTS WERE OFFERED DURING 2021 OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. INSTEAD, OREGON RECREATION AND PARK ASSOCIATION (ORPA") ORGANIZED THREE WEBINAR SERIES (EQUITY WEBINAR SERIES; VIRTUAL LEADERSHIP SERIES; AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT WEBINARS) ALONG WITH A NUMBER OF VIRTUAL PROGRAMS INCLUDING: YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING, TRAIL & PARK DEVELOPMENT, PROJECT PLANNING, AND MORE. 574 PEOPLE WERE SERVED WITH THESE VIRTUAL PROGRAMS. ORPA ALSO PIVOTED TO OFFERING AN ENTIRELY VIRTUAL CONFERENCE FOR THE FIRST TIME, PROVIDING THREE DAYS OF CONTENT FOR WHICH MEMBERS CAN RECEIVE CEUS. 815 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE VIRTUAL CONFERENCE.
SAFETY CERTIFICATION AND MAINTENANCE TRAILING: DURING THE YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2021, ORPA OFFERED THREE INTENSIVE EDUCATION COURSES AIMED AT INCREASING THE SAFETY OF PLAYGROUNDS AND INSTILLING KNOWLEDGE AS TO THE PROPER MAINTENANCE OF PLAYGROUNDS AND ASSOCIATED FACILITIES. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDED A CERTIFICATION EXAM FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN GAINING OR RENEWING PROPER CERTIFICATION. A TOTAL OF 93 PEOPLE WERE SERVED IN 2021.
ORPA LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES: ORPA MONITORED STATE LEGISLATION RELATED TO PARK AND RECREATION POLICY, FUNDING, AND REGULATIONS. THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTED LIMITED GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES.
