PREPARATION, ORGANIZATION AND EXHIBITION OF PERMANENT LIBRARY, ARCHIVAL AND FINE ART COLLECTIONS THAT ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO RESEARCHERS AT NO CHARGE. THE COLLECTIONS FOCUS ON THE HISTORICAL RECORD OF THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST AND ITS EXPANSION OF THE FRONTIER FOLLOWING THE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES. ESPECIALLY SIGNIFICANT ARE THE COLLECTIONS THAT DOCUMENT THE CO-DEPENDENT RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE RANGE CATTLE INDUSTRY, THE EXPANSION OF THE RAILROADS WESTWARD AND THE MILITARY SUPPORT OF BOTH THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE FORT SYSTEMS.
