CEF/FAAPOS WORKS TO ELIMINATE PREVENTABLE VISION LOSS IN CHILDREN AND SUPPORT THE MISSION OF AAPOS THROUGH VARIOUS GLOBAL PHILANTHROPIC AND EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES. SUCH EXAMPLES INCLUDE: (I) THE "ALL CHILDREN SEE" PROGRAM, WHICH IS A PUBLIC SERVICE PROGRAM THAT MATCHES PATIENTS WITH QUALIFIED OPHTHALMOLOGISTS WHO PROVIDE FREE, COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMS TO CHILDREN WHO HAVE FAILED A VISION SCREENING OR HAVE OTHER CONCERNING EYE CONDITIONS; (II) THE GLOBAL EDUCATION & TRAINING INITIATIVE, WHICH FOCUSES ON ENGAGING INTERNATIONAL PHYSICIANS FROM UNDERSERVED AREAS OF THE WORLD IN TRAINING ALONGSIDE AAPOS MEMBERS IN THE US; (III) THE "STOP INFANT BLINDNESS IN AFRICA" PROGRAM, WHICH DEVELOPS PROTOCOLS, EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, AND SCREENING TECHNIQUES, AS WELL AS TO PROVIDE EQUIPMENT TO NEONATAL CENTERS IN AFRICA WHICH (ONCE EXECUTED) WILL GIVE MANY THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN THE JOY OF SIGHT FOR LIFE; AND (IV) THE "VISION THROUGH MUSIC" PROGRAM, IN WHICH THE ORGANIZATION HAS JOINED EFFORTS WITH THE ACADEMY OF MUSIC FOR THE BLIND TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF MUSIC TEACHERS WHO WORK WITH BLIND CHILDREN.
