THROUGH OUR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE, CHORUS AUSTIN CREATES PASSIONATE MUSICAL EXPERIENCES THAT INSPIRE COMMUNITY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
CHORUS AUSTIN ENSEMBLES COMBINED TO PERFORM THE CONCERTS "THE BOOK OF ROUNDS" IN OCTOBER 2019, "ON A WINTER'S EVE" IN DECEMBER 2019, AND "SONGS OF THE EARTH" IN FEBRUARY 2020. THE ENSEMBLES INTENDED TO COMBINE FOR A FURTHER CONCERT IN MAY 2020, BUT HAD TO BE CANCELLED DUE TO THE OUTBREAK OF COVID-19.
CHORUS AUSTIN'S CHAMBER ENSEMBLE (CE) IS A 24-VOICE AUDITIONED CHORUS. THIS ENSEMBLE PARTICIPATED IN THREE COMBINED CONCERTS WITH OUR SYMPHONIC CHORUS, AND INTENDED TO HAVE ANOTHER CONCERT IN APRIL 2020. THIS CONCERT HAD TO BE CANCELLED DUE TO THE OUTBREAK OF COVID-19.
CHORUS AUSTIN'S SYMPHONIC CHORUS (SC) IS A 175-VOICE AUDITIONED CHORUS THAT PRIMARILY PERFORMS LARGE CHORAL WORKS. IN ADDITION TO THE COMBINED CONCERTS WITH OUR CHAMBER ENSEMBLE, SC PERFORMED WITH THE AUSTIN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA IN SEPTEMBER 2019 FEATURING MUSIC FROM SCHUBERT AND DURUFLE, AND THEN AGAIN IN DECEMBER TO PERFORM HANDEL'S MESSIAH. THIS ENSEMBLE ALSO LEAD OUR ANNUAL "SING-IT-YOURSELF-MESSIAH" IN DECEMBER.
