EMPLOYMENT TRAINING: THE GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF OIC'S TRAINING PROGRAMS IS TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF EMPLOYMENT SKILLS AND JOB-SPECIFIC SKILLS TO UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED INDIVIDUALS, SUCH THAT THE EMPLOYMENT NEEDS OF LOCAL BUSINESSES ARE MET AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE RESIDENTS OF NEW LONDON ARE IMPROVED. SPECIFICALLY, TRAINING IS OFFERED IN THREE CAREER TRACK AREAS: OFFICE/COMPUTER SKILLS, CULINARY ARTS, AND CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANTS (CNA). COMPLEMENTING THIS SPECIFIC VOCATIONAL TRAINING, THESE FUNDS WILL ALSO SUPPORT OIC'S EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS TRAINING ENCOMPASSING RESUME & COVER LETTER WRITING, EFFECTIVE INTERVIEWING SKILLS, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, CUSTOMER SERVICE, CONFLICT MANAGEMENT, AND MORE.
