OUR MISSION: URISA IS A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY GEOSPATIAL ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING, A VIBRANT AND CONNECTED COMMUNITY, ADVOCACY FOR GEOSPATIAL CHALLENGES AND ISSUES, AND ESSENTIAL RESOURCES. URISA FOSTERS EXCELLENCE IN GIS AND ENGAGES GEOSPATIAL PROFESSIONALS THROUGHOUT THEIR CAREERS.

GIS-PRO 2021 TOOK PLACE IN BALTIMORE, MARYLAND. THE CONFERENCE EDUCATION WAS EXCEPTIONAL AND THE DISCUSSIONS AND CONVERSATIONS (AFTER 18 MONTHS OF VIRTUAL MEETINGS) WERE APPRECIATED AND ENTHUSIASTIC. THE HOTEL, GRATEFUL FOR THE BUSINESS, DID NOT HOLD US TO CONTRACTED ROOM BLOCKS OR FOOD AND BEVERAGE GUARANTEES. APPROXIMATELY 200 PEOPLE ATTENDED. PROOF OF VACCINATION WAS REQUIRED, AND NO PROBLEMS WERE NOTED.
THE 2021 GIS/VALUATION TECHNOLOGIES CONFERENCE TOOK PLACE VIRTUALLY IN MARCH 2021. THERE WERE NEARLY 400 ATTENDEES, WITH GOOD SUPPORT FROM SPONSORS. THE MAIN EXPENSE WAS THE VIRTUAL PLATFORM USED. HALF OF THE PROCEEDS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ASSESSING OFFICERS, PARTNER FOR THIS EVENT.
IN 2021, URISA'S GIS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY WAS PRESENTED VIRTUALLY IN APRIL (30 ATTENDEES) AND IN-PERSON TO FULFILL 2020 CONTRACTS IN PORTLAND (14 ATTENDEES), ST PETE (22 ATTENDEES) AND MINNEAPOLIS (18 ATTENDEES). THE ONLY VENUE THAT HELD US TO CONTRACTED TERMS WAS IN MINNEAPOLIS, WHERE WE HAD TO PAY ATTRITION OF LESS THAN $12K.
GIS ORGANIZATIONS: WORK WITH EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS IN RELATED FIELDS TO PROVIDE THEM ASSISTANCE IN GETTING THEIR MESSAGE OUT AND ORGANIZING THEIR ACTIVITIES. OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE PUBLICATIONS, GISCORPS AND GIS CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE.
