Part 3 - Line 1

MILAGRO HOUSE OFFERS EDUCATION, HOUSING AND SUPPORT SERVICES FOR WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO WITHOUT OUR PROGRAM WOULD LIKELY BE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. WE ARE THE ONLY PROGRAM OF ITS KIND IN THE LANCASTER AREA THAT HAS EDUCATION AS ITS FOUNDATION. WE FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT EDUCATION IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT TO BREAKING THE BARRIERS THAT PREVENT THE WOMEN WE SERVE FROM OBTAINING A JOB THAT PAYS A FAMILY-SUSTAINING WAGE AND ALLOWS THEM TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING: MILAGRO HOUSE REMOVES THE BARRIERS TO EDUCATION WOMEN IN POVERTY FACE. WOMEN IN THE PROGRAM ARE WORKING TOWARD THEIR HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY (HSE) DEGREE AND/OR A POST-SECONDARY DEGREE OR CREDENTIAL.WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT/CAREER PREPAREDNESS: MILAGRO HOUSE PROVIDES WOMEN WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPLORE CAREERS, JOB SHADOW AND DEVELOP THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE A SUCCESSFUL JOB SEARCH (INTERVIEW SKILLS, RESEARCHING EMPLOYERS, BUILDING A PROFESSIONAL NETWORK, ETC.). BY PAIRING OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING WITH WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING, WOMEN ARE WELL PREPARED TO SECURE A JOB THAT SUSTAINS THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN OVER THE LONG TERM. BEYOND MILAGRO HOUSE: WOMEN WHO GRADUATE FROM MILAGRO HOUSE'S CORE PROGRAM ARE PROVIDED WITH RESOURCES AND SUPPORT FOR ONE YEAR AFTER THEY MOVE WITH THEIR CHILDREN FROM MILAGRO HOUSE TO THEIR FIRST APARTMENT.
