CENTRAL INTAKE UNIT - TASC PROVIDES A CENTRAL POINT OF INTAKE, EVALUATION, AND REFERRAL FOR THE PUBLICLY FUNDED OR UNINSURED RESIDENTS OF BERKS COUNTY WHO ARE IN NEED OF DRUG AND ALCOHOL TREATMENT SERVICES. THE POPULATION SERVED INCLUDES INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, CHILDREN & YOUTH SERVICES, AND SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN. OTHER ASSESSMENT SERVICES PROVIDED BY TASC INCLUDE THE COURT REPORTING NETWORK (CRN), WHICH IS THE STATE-MANDATED SCREENING FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS ADJUDICATED FOR A DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI) OFFENSE. TASC ALSO PROVIDES ASSESSMENTS FOR JUVENILES INVOLVED IN THE ACT 53 PROCESS WHEREBY A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MAY PETITION THE COURT OF COMMON PLEAS FOR COMMITMENT OF THE MINOR TO INVOLUNTARY DRUG/ALCOHOL TREATMENT SERVICES. IN ADDITION, TASC CONDUCTS ASSESSMENTS AND TREATMENT REFERRALS FOR INMATES AT THE BERKS COUNTY JAIL SYSTEM AS PART OF THE MA JAIL PROGRAM. TASC'S CENTRAL INTAKE UNIT SERVED 2,018 CLIENTS DURING FYE 6/30/2022, OF WHICH 1,678 WERE UNIQUE CLIENTS. FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF THE CLINICAL DRUG AND ALCOHOL ASSESSMENT, CLINICAL CASE MANAGERS COMPLETE A RECOVERY PLAN THAT IDENTIFIES CLIENT NEEDS ACCORDING TO 11 LIFE DOMAINS THAT, IF LEFT UNADDRESSED, OFTEN RESULT IN RELAPSE OR TREATMENT NON-COMPLIANCE. APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE INDIVIDUALS EVALUATED IN THE TASC CENTRAL INTAKE UNIT ARE INCLUDED IN CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES.
MENTAL HEALTH CASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM - TASC PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR THE MENTALLY ILL PUBLICLY FUNDED CLIENTS OF BERKS COUNTY, WITH THE GOAL OF REDUCING HOMELESSNESS, SUICIDE, INCARCERATIONS, AND ENTANGLEMENT WITH AN ONGOING NUMBER OF CONFLICTING SYSTEMS. THESE SERVICES ADDRESS THE ANCILLARY NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS IN HELPING THEM BECOME SELF SUFFICIENT AND INDEPENDENT. FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021/22 TASC PROVIDED BLENDED MENTAL HEALTH CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO 149 INDIVIDUALS AMMASSING 9,581 SERVICE UNITS.
URINE COLLECTION CENTER - TASC PROVIDES RANDOM, SCHEDULED, OBSERVED, AND CONFIDENTIAL URINALYSIS COLLECTION SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, PRIMARILY REFERRED BY THE BERKS COUNTY ADULT PROBATION & PAROLE OFFICE, CHILDREN & YOUTH SERVICES, BERKS CONNECTIONS PRETRIAL SERVICES, AND THE PUBLIC AT LARGE. TASC WORKS CLOSELY AND PROVIDES COLLECTION SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING IN THE DRUG, DUI, MENTAL HEALTH, AND VETERANS TREATMENT COURT PROGRAMS. ALL REFERRAL SOURCES HAVE ONLINE ACCESS TO CLIENT RESULTS WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE SPECIMEN COLLECTION DATE. DONORS ARE OBSERVED THROUGH A ONE-WAY MIRROR BY GENDER SPECIFIC MONITORS. ALL SPECIMENS COLLECTED ARE SENT TO REDWOOD TOXICOLOGY FOLLOWING ALL FEDERALLY APPROVED CHAIN OF CUSTODY PROCEDURES. DONORS REMIT A $6 CO-PAY AT THE TIME OF SERVICE. A SIX PANEL DRUG TEST INCLUDES SCREENING FOR AMPHETAMINE, BENZODIAZEPINES, COCAINE, OPIATES, OXYCODONE, AND MARIJUANA. TASC MAY ALSO ORDER TESTS FOR K2/SPICE, FENTANYL, ETG, ANABOLIC STEROIDS, AND OTHER SUBSTANCED AS REQUESTED. FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021/22 TASC COLLECTED 24,760 SPECIMENS, WITH A POSITIVE RATE OF 25.65%.
