THE ANTI-VIOLENCE PARTNERSHIP OF PHILADELPHIA IS A NONPROFIT, CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION THAT STRIVES TO END THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING INTERVENTION, PREVENTION, AND SUPPORT SERVICES. THE STAFF INCLUDES CHILD AND ADULT THERAPISTS, VICTIM ADVOCATES, TEACHERS AND COUNSELORS, TRAINERS, AND VOLUNTEERS. AVP IS COMMITTED TO ADVOCACY AND SUPPORT FOR CO-VICTIMS OF HOMICIDE AND VICTIMS OF OTHER SERIOUS CRIMES, VIOLENCE PREVENTION TRAINING FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS, AND EFFECTING CHANGE IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS AND SOCIETY AT LARGE.

FOUNDED IN 1983, THE ANTI-VIOLENCE PARTNERSHIP OF PHILADELPHIA (AVP) IS THE ONLY ORGANIZATION IN PHILADELPHIA WHOSE MISSION IS TO END THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE BY PROVIDING FREE INTERVENTION, PREVENTION, AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND ADULT VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE AND CO-VICTIMS OF HOMICIDE. AVP WAS ORIGINALLY FOUNDED AS A SUPPORT GROUP FOR FAMILIES WHO HAD LOST A LOVED ONE TO HOMICIDE. AVP'S ORIGINAL PROGRAM, FAMILIES OF MURDER VICTIMS, QUICKLY BECAME A VALUABLE SUPPORT FOR CO-VICTIMS OF HOMICIDE BY OFFERING COURT ACCOMPANIMENT, ADVOCACY, AND IMMEDIATE SUPPORT. THAT PROGRAM CONTINUES TODAY. AVP PROVIDES FURTHER CRITICAL SUPPORT SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE AND CO-VICTIMS OF HOMICIDE THROUGH ITS WEST/SOUTHWEST VICTIM SERVICES AND COUNSELING CENTER. AVP ALSO PROVIDES PREVENTION AND TRAUMA THERAPY SERVICES TO STUDENTS, AND PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL SUPPORT TO STAFF, ADMINISTRATORS, AND CAREGIVERS, IN NEARLY 40 PHILADELPHIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
