THE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY CENTER PROJECT SERVED 1,252 ADULTS. THE AGENCY PROVIDED THEM WITH A VARIETY OF SERVICES. THE SERVICES PROVIDED MAY INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL COUNSELING, CAREER COUNSELING, ASSISTANCE WITH THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS AND ASSISTANCE WITH COMPLETION OF THE FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION. THE AGENCY'S GOAL IS TO ASSIST LOW-INCOME, FIRST GENERATION COLLEGE BOUND ADULTS SELECT AND ENROLL IN A SUITABLE POSTSECONDARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AND COMPLETE THAT POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION OF CHOICE.
THE EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH PROJECT SERVED 322 STUDENTS IN GRADES 7 THROUGH 12 IN THE FOLLOWING SCHOOL DISTRICTS: SCRANTON AREA, HANOVER AREA, WILKES-BARRE AREA, HAZLETON AREA, AND SHENANDOAH AREA. THE SERVICES PROVIDED MY HAVE INCLUDED CAREER COUNSELING, FINANCIAL LITERACY, PREPARTION FOR TAKING COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMS, ASSISTANCE WITH THE COLLEGE SELECTION AND APPLICATION PROCESS. OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED INCLUDE ASSISTANCE WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE FINANCAIL AID APPLICATION. ADDITIONAL SERVICES PROVIDED TO ASSIST STUDENTS TO SUCCEED IN THE ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT SUCH AS, STRESS MANAGEMENT, STUDY SKILLS, AND SELF-ESTEEM WORKSHOPS. THE AGENCY'S GOAL IS TO ASSIST LOW INCOME, FIRST GENERATION COLLEGE BOUND STUDENTS TO SELECT AND ENROLL IN A SUITABLE POSTSECONDARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AND COMPLETE THAT POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION OF CHOICE.
THE OVR-PETS PROGRAM IS OFFERED IN 3 PARTICIPANTING SCHOOL DISTRICTS. 23 STUDENTS WITH IEP'S, 504 PLANS, OR HAVE SELF IDENTIFIED DISABILITIES RECEIVED SERVICES. THE LESSONS ARE OFFERED ON A SCHEDULED BASIS WITHTHE SCHEDULE SET BY THE DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION AT THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND THE AGENCY OVR COORDINATOR.
