THE PURPOSE OF THE ASSOCIATION IS TO UNITE ALL PHARMACISTS IN ALL AREAS OF PRACTICE AND ALL PERSONS DESIRING TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE PROFESSION OF PHARMACY IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA IN THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES TO ASSURE A HIGH QUALITY OF PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF HIGH STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONAL ETHICS, EDUCATION AND ATTAINMENT TO PROMOTE THE PRACTICE OF PHARMACY AS THAT PROFESSION WHICH IS CONCERNED WITH PRESERVING AND PROTECTING THE PUBLIC HEALTH BY EDUCATION OF CONSUMERS AND OTHER HEALTH PROFESSIONALS.

THE ASSOCIATION COMPLETED ITS ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND MID-YEAR CONFERENCE AND PRODUCED SIX BI-MONTHLY ISSUES OF ITS JOURNAL, THE PENNSYLVANIA PHARMACIST, WHICH CONTAINS INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROFESSION, PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES, AND THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY. THE PUBLICATION ALSO SERVES AS ONE OF THE MEANS OF OFFERING HOME-STUDY EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS. THE ASSOCIATION DISTRIBUTES A TWICE WEEKLY E-MAIL BULLETIN WHICH CONTAINS A BRIEF SYNOPSIS OF PERTINENT INFORMATION. THE ASSOCIATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MONITORING OTHER LEGISLATION AND PROPOSED REGULATIONS WHICH COULD HAVE A SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC IMPACT ON PHARMACIES AND PHARMACISTS. THE MEETINGS ATTRACTED MEMBERS WHO PARTICIPATED IN FORUMS AND CONTINUING EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL AS POLICY SETTING GUIDELINES FOR THE PROFESSION. THE ACADEMIES, REPRESENTING THE DIFFERENT PRACTICE SETTING FOR PHARMACISTS, ALSO MET DURING THE MEETINGS TO ADDRESS ISSUES AND CONCERNS PARTICULARLY RELEVANT TO THEIR AREAS OF EXPERTISE. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO MAINTAINS A WEBSITE WHICH CONTAINS INFORMATION OF A CURRENT AND TOPICAL NATURE SO MEMBERS MAY REMAIN INFORMED.
