THE CHESTER VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY 1 WAS ESTABLISHED AS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION AND INCORPORATED ON SEPTEMBER 12, 1921 IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY. THE FIRE COMPANY IS AN ACTIVE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT WHICH PROVIDES PROTECTION SERVICES PURSUANT TO AGREEMENTS WITH THE BOROUGH OF CHESTER AND CHESTER TOWNSHIP. THE FIRE COMPANY IS PRIMARILY FUNDED BY AGREEMENTS WITH THE TWO CHESTER MUNICIPALITIES AND PUBLIC DONATIONS.

THE ENTITY IS A FULL TIME VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY AND RESCUE SQUAD WHICH SUPPORTS THE CHESTER MUNICIPALITIES AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES WHEN CALLED UPON TO DO SO. THE ENTITY RESPONDS TO FIRES, MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS, FIRE ALARMS, HAZ-MAT INCIDENTS AND RESCUES.
