THE SUMMIT VOLUNTEER FIRST AID SQUAD (SVFAS) IS AN INDEPENDENT, PRIVATE,NON-PROFIT CORPORATION DEDICATED TO PROVIDING 24-HOUR RESPONSE TO MEDICAL EMERGENCY CALLS IN THE CITY OF SUMMIT, NJ AND THE SURROUND- -ING AREA. SVFAS IS THE ONLY EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE IN SUMMIT, PROVIDING BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TO THOSE WHO ARE INJURED,SICK, OR IN NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION. SVFAS IS A 100% VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION, AND IT PROVIDES ITS SERVICES AT NO CHARGE TO PATIENTS. FUNDING FOR SVFAS IS RAISED FROM LOCAL PRIVATE DONATIONS.THOUGH NOT A CITY AGENCY, SVFAS WORKS WITH THE SUMMIT CITY GOVERNEMENT, FIRE AND POLICE DEPART- MENTS, AS WELL AS COUNTY AND STATE OEM OFIICES.
