IN THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR LTEF AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING MORE THAN $187,000 FOR 61 INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF TEACHING AND LEARNING IN THE LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT. GRANTS FUNDED INCLUDED $10,000 FOR THE LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS CENTERED AROUND EQUITY & DIVERSITY. ANOTHER GRANT PROVIDED $23,000 TO PURCHASE MOBILE MAKERSPACES FOR THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THAT DID NOT HAVE ONE. OTHER PROJECTS INCLUDE: DECODABLE READERS FOR BEGINNING AND STRUGGLING READERS; A GAGA PIT FOR ONE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL; TWO DAYS OF IMMERSION IN LITERATURE AND ART FROM VISITING AUTHOR AND ARTIST OGE MORA FOR ONE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL; MANGA AND ANIME BOOKS FOR 6TH GRADE STUDENTS IN ORDER TO INCREASE INTEREST IN READING; FLEXIBLE SEATING OPTIONS STANDING DESKS FLOOR BANDS & CHAIR BANDS AT THE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL; AND LIVING HOUSEHOLD ITEMS FOR THE QUEST TRANSITION PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 9 THROUGH 12+ AT LHS.
