THE MISSION OF THE DAPONTE STRING QUARTET FOUNDATION IS TO ENABLE THE MUSICIANS OF THE DAPONTE STRING QUARTET TO CULTIVATE APPRECIATION FOR THE ART OF CHAMBER MUSIC THROUGH DISTINCTIVE PERFORMANCE AND EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH.

DSQF CONTINUED ITS LONGSTANDING TRADITION OF PROVIDING EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO YOUTH AND ADULT STRING PLAYERS IN 2023. DAPONTE HELD ITS ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM HOSTING 5 QUARTETS FROM ACROSS THE STATE OF MAINE. COMPLEMENTING THE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM WAS THE HONORS QUARTET FOR COLLEGE AGE STUDENTS. FOR ADULTS, DSQF HELD ONE WORKSHOP IN 2023 AND DUE TO A STRONG RESPONSE WILL OFFER TWO WORKSHOPS IN 2024.
IN KEEPING WITH ITS MISSION, THE DAPONTE STRING QUARTET FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO BRING WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCES TO AUDIENCES ALONG COASTAL MAINE FROM SANFORD TO EASTPORT INCLUDING A CANDLELIGHT CONCERT IN THE OLD WALPOLE MEETINGHOUSE WHICH WAS BUILT IN 1772. OVERALL, 3 CONCERT SERIES WERE PERFORMED IN ADDITION TO SEVERAL INDIVIDUAL CONCERTS TOTALING MORE THAN 30 CONCERTS IN 10 VENUES. THE GROUP ALSO PRESENTED 2 VIOLINISTS AS GUEST ARTISTS.
DSQF FEELS STRONGLY THAT SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY ENRICHES THE QUALITY OF LIFE ON MID COAST MAINE. WITH THAT GOAL IN MIND THE MUSICIANS PERFORMED A BENEFIT CONCERT AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN FREEPORT AND AT RETIREMENT HOMES ON THE MID COAST.
