THE COUNCIL PROVIDES COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT THROUGH QUALITY PREVENTION AND RECOVERY SERVICES IN VARIOUS AREAS, INCLUDING PREVENTION EDUCATION FOR YOUTH, SKILL BASED EDUCATION FOR PARENTS, PRO-SOCIAL COMMUNITY BASED ACTIVITES, SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL HEALTH EDUCATION, HARM REDUCTION PRACTICES, FAMILY AND PEER SUPPORT SERVICES, TOBACCO CONTROL, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2023 INCLUDE:1. TWO STAFF OBTAINED NEW CERTIFICATIONS: RECOVERY COACHING PROFESSIONAL FACILITATOR (RCPF),CCAR.2. 1,372 INDIVIDUALS IN ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY WERE TRAINED IN HOW TO ADMINISTER NALOXONE.3. 1,859 NALOXONE KITS AND OTHER HARM-REDUCTION MATERIALS WERE DISTRIBUTED IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO REDUCE THE RISK OF OPIOID OVERDOSE DEATHS.4. UNDER NEW POLICIES, 489 SCHOOL PERSONNEL WERE TRAINED IN HOW TO ADMINISTER NALOXONE.5. FACILITATED 143 EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS, BOTH EVIDENCE-BASED AND NON-EVIDENCED-BASED, TO A TOTAL OF 8,254 RESIDENTS.6. ASSISTED IN THE ADDITION OF 30 ADDITIONAL SUBSTANCE-FREE POLICIES, WHICH HELPED PROTECT THE HEALTH OF 17,614 RESIDENTS.7. OUR HEALTH EDUCATION MESSAGING ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS REACHED 151,837 INDIVIDUALS.8. PUBLISHED 32 PROGRAM AND AGENCY NEWSLETTERS OUTLINING HEALTH PROMOTION INFORMATION,REACHING 9,602 INDIVIDUALS.9. SPOKE TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS AT COMMUNITY EVENTS 73 TIMES EDUCATING 7,317 INDIVIDUALS.10. FACILITATED 284 POSITIVE ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES THAT HELPED BUILD PROSOCIAL INVOLVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND OTHER PROTECTIVE FACTORS AGAINST SUBSTANCE USE, REACHING 25,069 YOUTH IN THE COMMUNITY.11. CERTIFIED TRAINERS AT THE AGENCY FACILITATED 37 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES WITH A TOTAL OF 256 PARTICIPANTS.12. HOSTED THE FIRST ANNUAL EASTER TRUNK HUNT, WHICH REACHED 1,140 RESIDENTS.13. OUR ANNUAL TRUNK OR TREAT EVENTS REACHED 4,140 COMMUNITY MEMBERS.THE AGENCY HOSTS SEVERAL COMMUNITY-WIDE EVENTS EACH YEAR. THE EVENTS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND STRIVE TO EDUCATE, MOBILIZE, AND EMPOWER LOCAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO CREATE LONG-LASTING CHANGE IN THEIR OWNBACKYARD. 2023 EVENTS INCLUDED:1.
