PROVIDING EVIDENCE BASED PREVENTION EDUCATION AND COUNSELING SERVICES TO DUTCHESS COUNTY YOUTH AND FAMILIES SURROUNDING ISSUES RELATED TO AT RISK BEHAVIOR, IN PARTICULAR THE MISUSE/ABUSE OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND OTHER DRUGS (ATOD). THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS VARIOUS PROGRAMS AND SERVICES INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING: ALIVE AT 25THIS IS A COURT-MANDATED, FOUR-AND-A-HALF-HOUR, EVIDENCE-BASED DRIVER'S AWARENESS COURSE. THE CLASS IS DESIGNED BY THE NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL FOR YOUNG DRIVERS AGES 16-24. PARTICIPANTS GAIN AWARENESS, DEVELOP SAFETY STRATEGIES, AND BUILD A FOUNDATION FOR HEALTHY AND RESPONSIBLE DECISION-MAKING. CAPE'S PREVENTION EDUCATORS ARE CERTIFIED BY THE NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL. THIS IS A FEE-BASED PROGRAM.BLINDSPOTSAN EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTION (DESIGNED FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS) THAT ALLOWS PARTICIPANTS TO EXPLORE A MODEL TEEN BEDROOM AND IDENTIFY PARAPHERNALIA AND OTHER POSSIBLE INDICATORS OF SUBSTANCE USE/MISUSE. FOLLOW-UP INCLUDES A PRESENTATION TO REVIEW AND DISCUSS THE VARIOUS PARAPHERNALIA IN THE MODEL ROOM. THE SEVEN-SESSION PROGRAM UTILIZES NICOTINE REPLACEMENT THERAPY IN COMBINATION WITH GROUP COUNSELING. PROGRAMS ARE HELD ON-SITE AND CONDUCTED BY TRAINED EDUCATORS. THIS IS A FEE-BASED PROGRAM.CAMPUS COALITIONA GROUP MADE UP OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM MARIST AND VASSAR COLLEGES, THE COUNCIL, TOWN AND CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE LAW ENFORCEMENT & GOVERNMENT, LOCAL BAR AND RESTAURANT OWNERS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS. MEETINGS ARE HELD TO DISCUSS SUBSTANCE-RELATED ISSUES, BOTH ON AND OFF-CAMPUS.CATCH MY BREATHAN EVIDENCE-BASED E-CIGARETTE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER AND SUPPORTED BY CVS HEALTH. THIS 4 SESSION PROGRAM USES A PEER-LED TEACHING APPROACH TO EQUIP STUDENTS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS NEEDED TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS ABOUT E-CIGARETTES AND JUUL DEVICES. THIS IS A FEE-BASED PROGRAM.VICTIM IMPACT PANEL (VIP)A PROGRAM THAT SERVES THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING A MONTHLY FORUM ON THE PAINFUL CONSEQUENCES OF DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE GIVEN BY THOSE WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN FOREVER CHANGED BY AN IMPAIRED DRIVER.
