THE MODERN GREEK STUDIES ASSOCIATION IS AN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION THAT FOSTERS AND ADVANCES MODERN GREEK STUDIES IN NORTH AMERICA. TO THAT END, THE MGSA ORGANIZES A BIENNIAL INTERDISCIPLINARY SYMPOSIUM AND PUBLISHES THE PREMIER PEER-REVIEWED JOURNAL OF MODERN GREEK STUDIES AND OCCASIONAL REFERENCE WORKS. SERVING AS A HUB FOR SCHOLARSHIP AND RESEARCH, TEACHING AND LEARNING, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, THE MGSA ALSO SUPPORTS THE ESTABLISHMENT AND CONSOLIDATION OF MODERN GREEK CHAIRS AND PROGRAMS IN NORTH AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES. FROM ITS EARLIEST FOUNDATIONS, THE MGSA HAS BEEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE GREEK WORLD WHILE DEFENDING ACADEMIC FREEDOM.

THE MGSA CONVENED AN INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM WITH 150 REGISTERED ATTENDEES; IT PUBLISHED TWO ISSUES OF ITS JOURNAL, THE JOURNAL OF MODERN GREEK STUDIES, AND DISTRIBUTED IT TO ITS 300 MEMBERS AS WELL AS TO SUBSCRIBING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS. ITS COMMITTEES PRODUCED EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND ORGANIZED PEDAGOGICAL WEBINARS; DISTRIBUTED FOUR (4) INNOVATION GRANTS AND AWARDED BOOK PRIZES AT ITS SYMPOSIUM.
