THE MISSION OF THE RETAIL DIVISION IS TO PROVIDE A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE CREATING A SOURCE OF ONGOING PROFIT TO FUND THE ACTIVITIES OF UNITED WAY OF HUDSON COUNTY (ESPECIALLY OUR HOMELESS PROGRAMS). WE SEEK WHENEVER POSSIBLE TO PROVIDE TRAINING AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR UNEMPLOYED OR UNDEREMPLOYED INDIVIDUALS AND PROGRAMS PARTICIPANTS.
PLANNING/AGENCY RELATIONS - THE DEVELOPMENT OF PLANNING STRATEGIES TO ANALYZE COMMUNITY NEEDS IN THE AREA OF HUMAN RESOURCES. TO MEET WITH AGENCY DIRECTORS TO ASCERTAIN INDIVIDUALS SERVED IN EACH OF THE NINE HUDSON COUNTY COMMUNITIES IN OUR AREA, AS WELL AS TO DETERMINE THE SHORT-FALL OF SERVICES IN RELATIONSHIP TO "NEEDS".TO REVIEW AGENCY FUNDING REQUIREMENTS BASED UPON LOCAL SUPPORT AND THE FUNDING ELEMENTS OF FEDERAL, STATE AND MUNICIPAL GRANTS. TO ALERT AGENCIES OF THE AVAILABILITY OF GRANT PROPOSALS FROM GOVERNMENTAL UNITS THAT MAY ENTITLE THEM TO PARTIAL OR FULL SUPPORT OF NEW INITIATIVES.
INFORMATION/REFERRAL AND ADVOCACY - TO WORK WITH ESTABLISHED HUMAN SERVICE DELIVERY SYSTEMS, PUBLIC AND NON-PROFITS TO ASSIST IN THE PUBLICATION OF AN INFORMATION AND REFERRAL DIRECTORY OF SERVICES AVAILABLE TO THE RESIDENTS OF HUDSON COUNTY.TO ESTABLISH LINKAGES IN NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY AND CONNECTICUT FOR A HOT LINE TO SERVE EMPLOYEES OF HUDSON COUNTY CORPORATIONS, BANKS, LABOR GROUPS THAT WORK IN HUDSON, BUT RESIDE ELSEWHERE.IN COOPERATION WITH THE US CENSUS BUREAU TO ASSIST LOCAL AGENCIES TO ASCERTAIN A PROPER HEAD-COUNT OF OUR POPULATION VIA THEIR CLIENTELE. THIS IS VITAL SINCE EACH RESIDENT NOT COUNTED IMPACTS LOCAL FEDERAL FUNDING PER PERSON.CENSUS TRACT INFORMATION ENABLES AGENCIES TO REVIEW THE CHANGING ELEMENTS OF OUR RESIDENTS AND IDENTIFIES THE GROUPS WITH HUMAN RESOURCES OF LOCAL AGENCIES.
